About A Boy Chevron Challenge

April 15, 2013

The April 1st challenge for About A Boy (link on the sidebar) was to use chevrons in your design – easy right!?  WRONG!  I went through my entire stash and found I had nothing.  Apparently I’ve never used a chevron before.
I went looking in my idea books and on web pages for inspiration, but everything was so busy for my style of scrapping.  I then stumbled upon a picture that had nothing to do with chevrons and noticed the rick rack, and that was the inspiration for the following page.
I knew I wanted the chevron to be subtle when I started so this was perfect for that.

You probably can’t tell from the large page, but the photo mats are chevrons too.  I took a close up to try to show that detail.

As a final note….if anyone has any suggestions on how to take better pictures of my scrap pages I would love, love, love to hear them.  It seems no matter when I take the picture I get glare and the smaller details don’t show.  Can’t wait to hear your comments.  Until next time….

Aww what a precious layout! I take my photos outside in daylight but not straight up noon as that is too bright. Hope that helps. Thanks for playing along with us at About A Boy! 🙂

Wonderful layout! I take my photos directly over head of the layout or tape the layout to the wall and take directly in front. Thank you for playing at About a Boy!

I put my LOs in a scrap n easel. It holds it at an angle. I usually have the ott light just above to help with lighting.
