The Artist

April 30, 2013

The April 15th challenge for About A Boy was to use your boys artwork on a scrapbook page.  Michael had recently brought some Johnny Appleseed projects home so it was the perfect time for me to try this.

I usually make scrapbook pages using a variety of techniques, but I decided to approach this one differently.  Since it was his artwork I wanted it to look like he has created the page as well.  I reached WAAAYYY back in my childhood and created the page like I would have when I was in elementary school.  I don’t think you can tell from the picture, but it even has the owl hole in the tree that I think we all drew when we were younger.
I wouldn’t have had fancy embellishments as a youngster so I used my cricut to cut basic shapes.  It ended up turning out just like I wanted it too.
Michael’s original artwork that was the inspiration for my apple tree.

The best part is my little one really thinks it's his page. He wanted it hung on the fridge and brings his Daddy over and says "see my sun, see my tree, etc."

Thank you lintsi – I knew it was different, but thought it was worth the risk.
