Craft room Challenge – Week Two

January 10, 2018

Welcome to week two of the craft room challenge!  If this is your first week with us it’s not to late to join in, and have a more organized space by the end of the month.

Last week we decided to tackle our work surfaces since you can’t create anything new if you can’t see your desk right!? Let me remind you of what my work area looked like before.

There was literally a space just large enough for a single sheet of paper to work on, and it wasn’t exactly conducive to creating a project. As a result, I found myself avoiding creating, and, for me, week number one was the most needed out of any week we have.

First, I started with taking everything off the desk and giving it a good clean down.  I used the tools of my vacuum, and got all the dust and bits of paper off to start. Then I used just some baby wipes on the surface since it’s chalk board paint.  The little spinning caddy even got a good vacuuming.

With a pristine surface I decided to only put back what I really wanted on the desk.  While I would love to have just the work mat on the desk that isn’t really practical.  Instead I went with just the work mat, the spinning caddy, with reduced items, and my iPad holder.  The iPad holder is a must as I often use sketches to begin my creations.

I love my clean desk

What did I do with the rest of the things – well….that leads to week two because our mission this week is to purge and sort.  Get ready with those empty boxes or bags and be sure to make one for sell, donate/recycle/give away and don’t forget to have a trash bag.  This week will make a huge difference in how your rooms looks since deciding what can go will make it easier to give everything staying a place. Having a place will allows you to return it easily when you’re finished using it.  I will be focusing on my stamps and well as all the furniture I have on my walls.  The goal is to get things off the walls and have less of a walls closing in on you feeling.

Yay! A cleared work space! It feels great doesn’t it? I’ll be working on putting labels on my containers and building this week.

I love that your desktop is chalkboard paint! Do you ever use it to make little notes? I bet not, because you are the tidy type of person. But you know what! You could use it to make killer photography for your blog. Place a design on top and add fun text or a bits and pieces of the design with chalk to the table. And also, I am scared of this weeks purging. I don’t part easily with my stuff.

Purging is the hardest part for me too because I think of what I spent on the item. I never considered actually using the chalk paint for…chalk…haha
