April 2020 Monthly Scrapbook Goals

April 2, 2020

Hey scrappy friends!  How is everyone holding up?  We’re staying home, working on online schooling and trying to stay busy.  I feel myself father unmotivated in regards to my crafting though.  I don’t know if it’s the current situation, feeling responsible for making sure there’s not to much tv/screen time or something entirely unrelated.  I decided though that making goals and lists have always helped my motivation so that’s what I’m doing for my scrapbooking this month too. Without further ado I share with you my April 2020 monthly scrapbook goals.

  1. This is probably the easiest one to come up with.  I want to complete four layouts this month.  I think one a week is totally reasonable, and more importantly doable.
  2. I want to use three piece of flair from the HUGE collection that I have.  I haven’t bought flair in years, and if I’m honest I haven’t them in years either. If you look closely – one of the black flair says 2014! I chose three because if I on’y get to do four layouts I’m not sure I’ll be able to use one on every layout.scrapbook flair collection
  3. I want to kill this scrapbook kit from Authentique.  It’s called Loyal and it’s from….I’m embarrassed to say 2011.  I love Authentique paper, but when I purchase a collection from them I always struggle to use it.  One of my larger goals this year is to use up what I have from them….starting with this kit.
  4.  Last I want to kill this 6×6 pad from the My Minds Eye collection called The Sweetest Thing Bluebell.  The collection is from 2012, and I only have 14 6×6 sheets left.  These paper pads were anything I bought ages ago and stopped because I find I never use them.  This year I’m going to try  to pick a few out and get them used up.  I thought about making card stacks from them, but since I don’t really stamp…idk

So I think that’s about all for this month. I’d love to hear if you make monthly scrapbook goals, and if you do – please share them if you’re comfortable.  We can help keep each other on track!  Also, do you have any trips or tricks to use up the 6×6 collections or older collections you’re not so found of anymore?  I’d love to hear your ideas.  Until next time…stay crafty!

That Was Awesome

December 23, 2015

I know it’s not Sunday, but I finally got to sit down and work on the Scraplift Sunday piece from the Paper Issues Facebook group.
My take follows the form of the layout fairly closely.  My main paper choices were the Carta Bella line Boy Oh Boy.  Several of my embellishments also came from that line, but I also have a few in there from Basic Grey, Close To My Heart, A Flair For Buttons and the title from Heidi Swapp.
Hope you like my take!

Walk With Me Daddy

November 11, 2015

Happy Veterans Day Friends!  Today I’m sharing a layout I completed with the sketch from My Creative Sketches.  They are the challenge blog for the My Creative Scrapbook kits I receive.
This layout was a bit different for me, not only because it included circles, but because of the very toned down color palette. I really wanted to have the photo be the focus…more than usual anyway…so I stuck with grey and a light aqua.
The paper are from a Studio Calico kit from almost two years ago.  The grid paper was perfect for the large amount of journalling I wanted to do on this photo.  The title is a combination of thickers and Jillibean Soup mini alphas.  The little man flair is from A Flair For Buttons on Etsy.
Hope you enjoyed and leave me a link below if you used this sketch so I can check out what you created!

So Handsome Layout

August 21, 2015

Every time Laura releases a new sketch to us I’m just so excited to get started…this assignment for ScrapMuch!? was no different.  Doesn’t this sketch leave so much room for some fun things!?

I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use when I saw this….our son’s four year old photo shoot.  This had to be some of the easiest photos we have ever had taken.  We walked into the portrait studio and were out in three minutes…literally…he smiled and did exactly what she said and we had awesome photos to choose from!
I used mainly the Echo Park Jack & Jill collection for this.  The blue and orange was perfect to match our son’s outfit and the feel of the wood background.  The fair is from A Flair For Buttons on Etsy.  If you haven’t checked Shelley’s shop out you really need too.  The orange dot washi is from Queen & Co and the orange cross hatch washi is from Freckled Fawn.  I think that Freckled Fawn washi has been on almost every layout I’ve done since it was received…I just love it!
I also created a process video on this layout.  It can be found on my youtube channel…here.  I’d love to know your thoughts on the video!
Well – enough yacking from me for now 🙂  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Boys Will Be Boys

July 7, 2015

When I saw the July 1st sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap I knew exactly what pictures I wanted to use, and it came together in right around an hour.  An hour is probably a first for me as I tend to agonize over every little embellishment.
The paper is an old boys collection from Echo Park that I have been hoarding, but I’m really trying to get through my stash as there are so many new collections I want to buy.  The flair is from an awesome Easy shop called A Flair For Buttons.  Some Bella enamel dots, Studio Calico wood veneer and Jillibean Soup ephemera and I was ready to go.
What do you think of the sketch and my take?  Will you use it?  I want to see if you do!  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!
