Two Peas In A Pod Boy Scrapbook Layout

July 8, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  It’s that time again where I get to share with you what I created for the Southern Girls Challenge team. For our go around this time I used photos of my hubby and son to create this Two Peas In A Pod Boy Scrapbook Layout.

These photos were taken on our son’s last birthday trip while we were out for dinner and one of our new favorite places.  I’ve been going to this beach since I was seven and we tried this restaurant for the first time this year.  Why did we wait that long… it’s amazing!

Two Peas In A Pod Boy Scrapbook Layout

Our son was sitting with my hubby, they were wearing the same shirt, and making funny faces…despite it being grainy photos from being inside at night…it was a must scrap.  The two peas title so fits them because other than their face shape they are almost identical.  They have the same body style, same hair texture, same fingers and toes, similar personalities – it’s adorable.

As a side note, if you have any tips on photographing cream paper I could sure use them.  Anytime I try to take pictures of layouts with a cream base they look all wonky.  Either the color isn’t right, even with correcting in software, of it gets these weird lines.

I think that’s it for now.  The design speaks for itself, but it’s the story I wanted to share with you.  I hope it inspires you to use some of those photos that aren’t stunning from a photography standpoint, but have a special story worth documenting. Until next time…stay crafty!

April Goals Recap and May 2020 Scrapbook Goals

May 2, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome to my first monthly goals recap post.  I started setting goals last month and they seemed to work well so here we are for another month to keep the momentum.  Without further ado we’ll start with a recap of April’s scrapbook goals and how I did with them.

  1.  I wanted to complete four layouts during April.  I did awesome on that goal and created six.  I shared two already, and I’ll keep sharing as time permits obviously.
  2. I wanted to use three pieces of flair from my inappropriately large flair stash.  Unfortunately, I didn’t meet this goal.  I only used two 🙂  I just seem to keep forgetting to use them.  Any tips are appreciated.
  3. I wanted to kill my Loyal kit from Authentique.  I did it!  I made to more layouts and this is what’s left. Not to shabby!Authentique Loyal
  4. I wanted to kill my 6×6 My Minds Eye The Sweetest Things Bluebell paper pad.  I had fourteen sheets left and made three layouts.  Here’s what’s left.  I had four full 6×6 sheets left, but the embellishments left me with no ideas and no inspiration so I considered it killed. My Minds Eye

For May I want to continue with the theme of killing things and using supplies I’ve had forever.   Reducing my stash size is a huge goal for me. So here’s my list of May 2020 scrapbook goals:

  1. I would like to aim again for four layouts this month.  Even though we are still under a stay at home order the weather is getting nicer so I hope to be spending more time outside with the kiddos.
  2. Since I didn’t meet this goal last month I will carry it over this month…use three piece of flair on the layouts I create.
  3. Kill my 2017 Simple Stories Easter kit.  This shouldn’t be hard as I only have three 12×12 sheets left and the stickers sheet, which got ink on it so part is unusable.Simple Stories Easter
  4. It must be a Simple Stories month because without even realizing it I picked on this Vintage Bliss 6×6 paper pad to kill.  This is from 2013 and I wish I had gotten the full collection at the time.  There are 15 full 6×6 sheets left, but I have no embellishments…none…zero…zilch.  That will be the hard part for me.Simple Stories Vintage Bliss

So do you think I can do it?  Do you think it’s to many goals….not enough?  Share your thoughts with me, and tips or tricks you have for using things up or your goals for the month.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Hello Love Scrapbook Layout

April 19, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  Can you believe I’m back so soon with another layout.  The goals list is really working for me this month.  It also helps that we don’t have sports every night to…lol.  To finish using up my Authentique Loyal collection I made this Hello Love scrapbook layout.

I also crated this layout as part of the challenge over at Lasting Memories.  They are having a word play challenge where you take the word and use a supply starting with that letter.  I used the word spring and this is how I broke it down:

S- Scraps of paper

P – Pattern paper background

I – Ink – it’s hard to see in the photos, but the edge of the entire layout is inked with Tim Holtz distress ink in Faded Jeans.

N – Nuvo drops (the black enamel dots)

G – Glue for the flair and the doily

I also managed to get a flair badge on this layout.  My goals was to use three and so far I’ve only used one.  I need to get working on that though since the month is more than half over.  Any suggestions on how to get those pesky things used up let me know!

Well, off I go to try and create more while my kiddos are playing outside with their Dad.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Best Friends Scrapbook Layout

April 15, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another anything goes challenge with Southern Girls.  For this challenge I decided to work on some of my April goals and use my Authentique Loyal papers to make a best friends scrapbook layout.

Best friends scrapbook layout

Since I was trying to kill this kit I pulled it out first when working this month. I was struggling big time though because most of the embellishments I had left were for brothers.  I found a few though that could be used for friends so I went searching for a photo of my bestie and I.  I felt like this photo worked well because there weren’t a lot of competing colors…it was just us.

I started with the lined paper as my base (which isn’t 12×12, but I made it such with the triangle pieces) and layered up loads of scraps under the photo.  I distressed all the edges and inked them with a blending foam and matching ink.  It was looking a bit sparse though since there was so much space so I cut some triangle pieces for the top and bottom which worked well for design and making the layout the traditional size.

I tried to get a piece of flair on here too since that I also one of my monthly goals, but none of them fit quiet right visually.  Well,  I think that’s it for now.  I’m gonna sign off and try to get working on those goals.  Until next time…stay crafty!

April 2020 Monthly Scrapbook Goals

April 2, 2020

Hey scrappy friends!  How is everyone holding up?  We’re staying home, working on online schooling and trying to stay busy.  I feel myself father unmotivated in regards to my crafting though.  I don’t know if it’s the current situation, feeling responsible for making sure there’s not to much tv/screen time or something entirely unrelated.  I decided though that making goals and lists have always helped my motivation so that’s what I’m doing for my scrapbooking this month too. Without further ado I share with you my April 2020 monthly scrapbook goals.

  1. This is probably the easiest one to come up with.  I want to complete four layouts this month.  I think one a week is totally reasonable, and more importantly doable.
  2. I want to use three piece of flair from the HUGE collection that I have.  I haven’t bought flair in years, and if I’m honest I haven’t them in years either. If you look closely – one of the black flair says 2014! I chose three because if I on’y get to do four layouts I’m not sure I’ll be able to use one on every layout.scrapbook flair collection
  3. I want to kill this scrapbook kit from Authentique.  It’s called Loyal and it’s from….I’m embarrassed to say 2011.  I love Authentique paper, but when I purchase a collection from them I always struggle to use it.  One of my larger goals this year is to use up what I have from them….starting with this kit.
  4.  Last I want to kill this 6×6 pad from the My Minds Eye collection called The Sweetest Thing Bluebell.  The collection is from 2012, and I only have 14 6×6 sheets left.  These paper pads were anything I bought ages ago and stopped because I find I never use them.  This year I’m going to try  to pick a few out and get them used up.  I thought about making card stacks from them, but since I don’t really stamp…idk

So I think that’s about all for this month. I’d love to hear if you make monthly scrapbook goals, and if you do – please share them if you’re comfortable.  We can help keep each other on track!  Also, do you have any trips or tricks to use up the 6×6 collections or older collections you’re not so found of anymore?  I’d love to hear your ideas.  Until next time…stay crafty!
