Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout

July 16, 2018

Hey crafty friends! I’m back with you today sharing the Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout for two challenges.  I used the bingo challenge from Redefined Kreative as well as the ocean theme from Challenge YOUrself.

For the bingo challenge you had three rows you could choose from.  All of them had things in common, but some had more challenging items like texture paste or wood veneer.  I choose the line with stickers, stamps, acrylic pieces, patterned paper, and ribbon.

This close up shows me as part of the requirement for Challenge YOUrself.  I am second from the left between my husband and my father.  This photo was taken when we all went to the beach for Dad’s 60th birthday.  My mom got everyone shirts that said Happy Birthday Dad, and then Dad’s said…I’m the dad.  We all wore them out to dinner and gave everyone good laughs.  We’ve also worn them for many years since.  Dad actually turned 70 less than two weeks ago…tells you how old this photo is!

In the above photo you can see the stamping at the very top of the strip next to the acrylic piece.  I also have a touch of stamping above my photo.  The every summer has a story is a sticker.  I took the sticky up and popped it up on craft foam.  I reach for my craft foam much more than pop dots anymore due to cost and easy of use.  I find it so much easier to cut a piece of foam and glue on than place a million pop dots and remove all their backings.  Last but not least is the ribbon I used through my tag.

I still have to add my journalling, but otherwise I’m please with how this came out. I’m also glad to have this photo documented after way to long.  I’m been working on going back to some of my older printed photos and have done a good job making a dent.  What are you working on lately?  Until next time…stay crafty.

Family Scrapbook Layout Using Punches

May 3, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today sharing another layout that I created for the Southern Girls Challenge.  I am on Team Lou, and made a boo boo and created a layout for Team Trace…oopppsss.  There are worse mistakes though right…at least it’s another memory documented.  The challenge this go round is to create a project using punches.  I created this family scrapbook layout using punches I had been neglecting for some time.

When I saw a sketch over at the Hip Kit Club I knew it was perfect for this challenge. I could use my circle punches to create the pattern, and then when I got punching my design took a total left turn.  You can still see the sketch in my layout, but it wasn’t what I planned at the beginning.

Another thing that makes this layout different for me is I used yellow cardstock as my base.  I don’t normally use anything beyond white, black and occasionally navy, but when I started laying my circles down it just needed something more.  I tried many of the colors in the patterned pages I used, but the yellow made the circles pop the most.

So without further ado….here the layout is: Family Scrapbook Layout Using Punches

Happy 1st Birthday Boy Scrapbook Layout

April 10, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’ve missed sharing with you during the hectic holiday season, and I’m so glad to be back.  Today I have a fun birthday boy scrapbook layout to share with you featuring my cute nephew, who is turning six next month!

This layout design is so versatile, and I think that’s what ended up making it one of my favorites that I’ve done in awhile.  You can do this technique with a 4×6 or 5×7, and it doesn’t take many patterned papers either since you just alternate the A and B sides of two sheets.

The other thing that makes this so easy is the star embellishments.  I used some chipboard stars and some puffy, but you can cut stars from patterned paper and use foam to pop them up if you don’t want to purchase extra supplies.  You could also cut stars from solid paper and doodle on them if your stash is just getting started.

Since I had them in my stash I added a label, which was just a free printable so no cost there, and some sequins to add a different dimension to the page.  The buttons also have been in my stash forever, but could be substituted for paper circles if you don’t have buttons.

The title was cut from my Silhouette Cameo.  While the script may be hard to hand-cut block letters would be very easy.  You also could use letter stickers if you have them.

I hope this gives you several ideas on how to use your stash differently, even if you have a huge one, or how to create a lovely page if you’re stash is just getting started.  Also, tell me what your favorite way to use your stash differently is. If you’re interested in seeing another boy birthday layout using some supplies from this collection – check this layout out.

Couples scrapbook layout – Bella Blvd

March 12, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back for another project.  This time I created a couples scrapbook layout using a baby collection.  I wanted to show you to think outside the collection name or theme to create awesome pages.

It was the secret not secret kit club scrap party this weekend and one of the challenges was to scrap a member.  This month was  Laura Alberts and I found her on Instagram at takingascenicroute. The layout I chose was a couples one and focused her photo and embellishments in the upper left corner.

The collection I chose to work with was Bella Blvd’s Sweet Baby Girl.  I had this out on my desk and figured using it would be a challenge.  I took the more neutral patterns from the collection (i.e.: not ones with princess frogs or cute teddy bears) on them and got to work.

I had to be creative with the embellishments since the items in the kit were very theme specific.  The embellishments I chose were some neutral items I keep like hearts, stars and sequins so I could reach for those.  Some of the phrases stickers from the kit even worked.

I think the thing I am most proud of is the tag that is sticking out from the left side of my photo. It is a tag that I used a water brush and a gelato on.  Since I’m not a mixed media guru I was really happy that I thought to use the product that way.  I didn’t use any primer on my tag before and by using just a bit of water I didn’t have very much warping.  Any I did encounter was rectified when I adhered it down to my page.

Couples Scrapbook Layout

So what do you think of my scrap lift?  Did I do Laura’s page justice?  What things do you look for when scrap lifting someone?
