Grandfather and Grandson Layout

February 6, 2019

Hey Crafty Friends!  Can you believe I’m back with another share so soon!?  Don’t get used to it…haha.   I’m trying very hard to get back to posting more frequently.  The little one has stopped napping, and it has taken me some getting used to to find a posting schedule again.  This time I’m sharing a layout with you for Southern Girls Challenge Blog.  We were challenged to do something with animals so I created this grandfather and grandson layout of them watching the horses.  Far fetched I know!

Male layouts are hard - multi generation male layours...even harder. This layout grandfather and grandson layout combines both.

When our son was little my parents watched him two days a week.  He loved animals and diggers…what boy doesn’t right!?  When the weather was nice they went to local construction sites to watch the diggers and also local arms to watch the animals and horses.  My mom captured this photo and I wanted our son to have it documented since his grandparents are so special to him.

The paper is a VERY old collection from Carta Bellas called Boy Oh Boy.  I’ve been trying to kill this collection for years and I think I may actually still have bits and pieces laying around.  This layout was done with the 6×6 paper pad though.  I keep looking for ways to use all the 6×6 pads I have up, and I’m still not making a dent.  Do you have any tips?

Thank you for checking out my share today, and I hope you’ll pop over to Southern Girls and check our what the rest of the girls created.  As always, if you participate please remember to leave me a link so I can be sure to check it out.  Also, leave me your 6×6 pad paper tips below too!  Until next time…stay crafty!

Kids Beach Scrapbook Layout

September 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back here today with my first reveal of the month for Scrap Our Stash. This month’s movie was Transparent.  I must be striking out because this is another one I’ve never heard of, and after reading the synopsis it’s one I’d never put in my play list.  It does have the concept of family so I created a kids beach scrapbook layout from a recent trip with took with my parents.

Use a grid design to create a kids beach scrapbook layout. Grid designs make for a quick and easy way to use scraps and get your photos done.

In addition to using the movie concept we were also challenged to use a grid design and use either a transparency or vellum.  The grid can be seen in my overall shot easily, but the above photo shows better how I used vellum as a layer under parts of my photo.  I used vellum over a transparency because I actually don’t own any transparencies, or acetate even.  I like the look the vellum gave though as it was another layer, but it’s soft and a different texture than paper. What do you like to add to your layouts to give extra texture?

The paper collection is an old one from Carta bella called soak up the sun that I had been trying to to get finished up.  I am happy to report that it’s done and the scraps donated!  I have been getting so much used up  by being part of these challenges.  I think I have killed ten kits so far this year.

Well, I think that’s all I have for now.  I hope you find it inspiring and come over and participate in our stash busting challenge.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Wedding Hairdo Scrapbook Layout

August 8, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another page reveal for Southern Girls Challenge. Team Lou was challenged to add some stamping to their project.  I pulled out some old items in my stash and created a wedding hairdo scrapbook layout for my sister’s wedding.

My sister was married the day after Christmas, one month after getting engaged and while I was six months pregnant…fun times 🙂  I had never done hair before, but she wanted something simple and wanted to look like herself so I just did a simple around the head braid.  These photos were taken while I was doing that…without even a practice run.

The paper that I used for this is Carta Bella’s rustic elegance.  It’s a wedding paper, but isn’t all I do and black and white.  It has soft colors and hearts and flowers…perfect for letting the photos shine.

To meet the stamping requirement I used an old Stampin’ Up hexagon set that had a matching punch.  The set had patterned hexagons and one with just an outline. I used use the outline so that the stamping didn’t compete with the punched paper.  I feel the patterned stamps would have overwhelmed the soft feel of the paper.

Since there were three photos on the page, and the hexagons themselves were visually very busy, I left everything else very simple.  A simple black title and two small journalling squares were my only embellishments.  The only other thing I added was some gold ink splatters as it is a wedding after all.

I hope you have enjoyed this layout share, and I hope you’ll come over and join the challenge as well.  Don’t forget that if you do leave me a comment with your link so I can be sure to pop over and check your creation out.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout

July 16, 2018

Hey crafty friends! I’m back with you today sharing the Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout for two challenges.  I used the bingo challenge from Redefined Kreative as well as the ocean theme from Challenge YOUrself.

For the bingo challenge you had three rows you could choose from.  All of them had things in common, but some had more challenging items like texture paste or wood veneer.  I choose the line with stickers, stamps, acrylic pieces, patterned paper, and ribbon.

This close up shows me as part of the requirement for Challenge YOUrself.  I am second from the left between my husband and my father.  This photo was taken when we all went to the beach for Dad’s 60th birthday.  My mom got everyone shirts that said Happy Birthday Dad, and then Dad’s said…I’m the dad.  We all wore them out to dinner and gave everyone good laughs.  We’ve also worn them for many years since.  Dad actually turned 70 less than two weeks ago…tells you how old this photo is!

In the above photo you can see the stamping at the very top of the strip next to the acrylic piece.  I also have a touch of stamping above my photo.  The every summer has a story is a sticker.  I took the sticky up and popped it up on craft foam.  I reach for my craft foam much more than pop dots anymore due to cost and easy of use.  I find it so much easier to cut a piece of foam and glue on than place a million pop dots and remove all their backings.  Last but not least is the ribbon I used through my tag.

I still have to add my journalling, but otherwise I’m please with how this came out. I’m also glad to have this photo documented after way to long.  I’m been working on going back to some of my older printed photos and have done a good job making a dent.  What are you working on lately?  Until next time…stay crafty.

Double Page 12×12 Masculine Scrapbook Layout

June 19, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome to another layout share.  This time around I’m sharing something that isn’t normal for me.  I created a double page 12×12 masculine scrapbook layout with photos of my husband before we were married.  I rarely do double page layouts anymore, but I have a great sketch set, and tons of photos to get done quickly so it worked really well.

The layouts started with the right hand side of the page as it was more of an accent page to the first.  A solid piece of cream cardstock was used as the base, and then scraps I had left from the collection for the rest.  Since I had used so many photos I kept the embellishments very very simple to no make the page to busy.  The embellishment layers are actually from the collection, but I placed them strategically so you can only read the top one.

I often have trouble creating pages that have a theme when there are no supplies geared towards that topic. Here I created a double page 12x12 masculine scrapbook layout using supplies meant for Valentine's Day.

For the left hand page I went a little more all out since it was the focus of my story.  Besides using the same paper collection for both pages the polka dot strip at the top, as well as the scallop pieces, help to tie the pages together making them one story.

You can see where I chose to place my embellishments so I’ll tell you about the photos.  We enjoy Nascar races, and the Pocono track is only about an hour from our house, so before we were married we went once each year.  This was the race in August 2004…ten months before we were married.  Our 13th anniversary was yesterday, and it feels like these photos were just taken.

I hope you have enjoyed this double page layout because I can’t tell you when I’ll do another one…haha. Until next time…stay crafty!
