Christmas Train Mother and Son Scrapbook Layout

January 20, 2022

Hey guys!  Can you believe I have a post two weeks in a row!!??  I know I can’t.  This week I have a Christmas train mother and son scrapbook layout to share with you.  I have lots of help with inspiration on this one.

I started with the monthly challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself blog.  This month they wanted you to use the prompt about working together.  They gave several thoughts to use the prompt, but I took it kind of literally.  The photo I’m using was a selfie my son and I took while waiting for the Christmas train ride.  We literally were working together to keep the line fun for our five year old  since the line was rather long.

Paper issues sketch

I also used the above sketch from Paper issues to help get my design going.  I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, except for the title portion.  I used a doily for the triangles to give the same round feeling, but I just couldn’t get my title to feel correct in the round.

The paper are I used are from a very old My Mind’s Eye collection called Winter Wonderland.  I believe this collection was released in 2012.  I’m trying to use this collection up since it’s been in my stash for so long.  I’m hoping to get two more layouts out of what I have left.

Oh before I forget,  I’m on the hunt for a new photo editing website.  The one I have used for years now charges a hefty yearly fee.  What do you all use?

Well, that’s it for now.  I’m so happy to be creating again more regularly.  Until next time…stay crafty.

Happy Girls Scrapbook Layout

January 3, 2021

Hey crafty friends and Happy New Year!  I’m glad to be back sharing with you.  I know I say this every year, but I hope to be more consistent in posting this year.  It’s one of my goals every year honestly…to do more than the year before.  To start the year off right I’m sharing this Happy Girls scrapbook layout for the anything goes challenge at Challenge Yourself.

This layout is from a trip we took to Lancaster to see my sister.  One of our favorite places to visit is a local bakery that, besides having great baked goodies, has a place with animals you can feed, an awesome playground and some fun multi person swings.  I managed to grab a photo of our daughter on the loving the swings.  The other photo is of her, I and my sister. I tried to convince our son to get in the photo, but he was just to busy playing on the playground.

The papers that I used for this collection are from a VERY old Mind Minds Eye 6×6 paper pad.  It was from the sweetest things collection.  Back then they had one over arching collection name and them sub color ways underneath.  This one was the Bluebell collection, and as of when I’m writing this can still be found on ebay.

Since I only had the 6×6 pad left from the collection I needed to be creative in the way I used it to fill the page.  I started by cutting strips and piecing them together around the edge trying to line up the patterns to make the seams disappear.  I also pieced together two pieces to create the larger 8×8 square on the background.  The smaller pieces are 2×2 and then I used scraps behind my 3×4 photos.  It really was a layout that came together very quickly.

Well, I think that’s it for today. I’ve done website maintenance, cups, laundry, cleaning, shop posting, wholesale ordering, errands, schooling with big kiddo, legos with little kiddo and I’m sure things I’m forgetting….I’m beat.  A layout and a post to start the new year though…not to shabby.  I hope to be back with you soon.  Until next time…Stay crafty!

Mother Daughter Scrapbook Layout

September 16, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today with a layout for both the Paper Issues scraplift challenge and for Challenge Yourself’s thankful challenge.  I did double duty with this Mother Daughter Scrapbook Layout.

I choose to use this photo of our daughter and I on our recent socially distanced beach vacation.  We always book our week the year before so this trip was planned well before the pandemic.  I looked into getting our funds back, and we couldn’t, so we took the trip and did our best to maintain distance.  We didn’t do rides or arcades…just beach and supper.  It was actually quite nice as we came up with more things to do as a family.  I’m thankful for the time away to recharge, I’m thankful for the yummy food we ate after this picture and I am of course thankful for the munchkin in the photo with me.

The Paper Issues layout I used as inspiration had torn edges.  I have tried numerous times to do that, but I just isn’t something I feel like I pull off well.  What I did instead was to use my edge distressed to at least give it a roughed up edge. I then distressed them with my Tim Holtz Scattered Straw mini ink pad and blender.

All the papers, embellishments and washi come from the Simple Stories Kate and Ash collection.  I head off on buying this one, but I had seen so many cute pages using in on Pinterest that on my last store order I included it for myself.  After completing this page…I’m so glad I picked it up.

Well,  I think that’s it for now.  I hope to be off to creating more soon because to be real…this cyber school thing is kicking this momma’s butt!  Until next time…stay safe…stay sane and stay crafty.

Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout

July 16, 2018

Hey crafty friends! I’m back with you today sharing the Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout for two challenges.  I used the bingo challenge from Redefined Kreative as well as the ocean theme from Challenge YOUrself.

For the bingo challenge you had three rows you could choose from.  All of them had things in common, but some had more challenging items like texture paste or wood veneer.  I choose the line with stickers, stamps, acrylic pieces, patterned paper, and ribbon.

Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout

This close up shows me as part of the requirement for Challenge YOUrself.  I am second from the left between my husband and my father.  This photo was taken when we all went to the beach for Dad’s 60th birthday.  My mom got everyone shirts that said Happy Birthday Dad, and then Dad’s said…I’m the dad.  We all wore them out to dinner and gave everyone good laughs.  We’ve also worn them for many years since.  Dad actually turned 70 less than two weeks ago…tells you how old this photo is!

In the above photo you can see the stamping at the very top of the strip next to the acrylic piece.  I also have a touch of stamping above my photo.  The every summer has a story is a sticker.  I took the sticky up and popped it up on craft foam.  I reach for my craft foam much more than pop dots anymore due to cost and easy of use.  I find it so much easier to cut a piece of foam and glue on than place a million pop dots and remove all their backings.  Last but not least is the ribbon I used through my tag.

Sixtieth Birthday Family Layout

I still have to add my journalling, but otherwise I’m please with how this came out. I’m also glad to have this photo documented after way to long.  I’m been working on going back to some of my older printed photos and have done a good job making a dent.  What are you working on lately?  Until next time…stay crafty.

Autumn | Challenge Yourself | Hip Kit Club

October 23, 2017

Afternoon crafty friends!  I’m sharing a layout today that was inspired by two different challenges.  I wanted to use the mood board at Challenge Yourself and the weekly sketch on the Hip Kit Club Facebook forum.
Both of these challenges were perfect to get some of the photos from our recent apple picking trip done.  I took these selfies with each of my kiddos because getting them both to sit still for one together is almost impossible

The products on this page came from an old My Creative Scrapbook kit…Fall 2015 to be exact 🙁  The papers included in the clip were from Echo Park’s The Story Of Fall and the chipboard was from Carta Bella’s A Perfect Autumn.
I really like the dimensional interest using some flat stickers and some chipboard gives the page. I used a white pen for my journalling since my favorite black sharpie didn’t really show up.  Do you have a favorite white pen as I’m not sold on the one I have?
Okay – enough chatting for today…back to creating.  Stay crafty!!
