Family Layout for Child’s Play Challenge

October 1, 2014

Time for another fun reveal at Child’s Play Challenge.  This time we were to use the toy Jack In The Box.  Our son didn’t have one, but I know the idea is that the clown pops out of the box and makes the child smile.  The smiling made me think of all the smiling photos we got on our recent beach vacation.
I admit that I’ve been low on inspiration lately so I pulled out one of my Scrapbook Generation kits.  These paper were part of my August kit and I used the sketch by Debbie Sanders.  I changed some of the cards on the left size and used a larger photo on the right.  I love having these kits on hand for when I’m low on mojo.
Did you child have a Jack In The Box?  Are you inspired  some other way by this challenge?  I can’t wait to see what you come up with.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Chid’s Play Challenge – Cat In The Hat

September 17, 2014

Welcome to another fun reveal for Child’s Play Challenge.  We were asked this time to create layouts with the book Cat In The Hat as inspiration.
We don’t read a lot of Dr. Suess around here for some reason so it took me a while to find my inspiration.  It was only after I realized the my nephew A’s favorite movie was The Lorax that it came together for me.  After that this layout only took about an hour to complete.
I used the Hey Baby collection by Simple Stories for all the paper since they matched A’s shirt so well, but kept the look soft.
The layout of the photo and embellishments was inspired by one of Stacia Brandt’s Queen & Co guest layouts.  She used circles, but otherwise the placement is very similar.
I love how this came out and I placed it in a memory tray for my SIL to hang in her office.  I hope she love it too.  Come over and join our challenge with how this theme inspires you.  Until next…Keep Scrapping!

Child’s Play Challenge – Sequins Halloween Layout

September 3, 2014

It’s time for another reveal at Child’s Play Challenge and this time we needed to use sequins.  For me…that was no challenge at all!  Even though I have a boy I love using boy color sequins.  I even have wood grain sequins; which I think are my favorite.
For this layout I pulled out an old Doodlebug Designs Halloween collection and the one photo we have of M on his first Halloween.  We don’t celebrate, but they were having a party at school so I bought him a great pumpkin shirt.
I usually struggle with strips for some reason, but I love how these came out and how they offset how dark his shirt is.
I hope my layout inspires you to come over and play with us.  I’d love to see what you create with sequins. Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Child’s Play Challenge – Flintstones

August 20, 2014

Welcome to another reveal for Child’s Play Challenges.  This time we needed to use the TV show the Flintstones for our inspiration. I watched re-runs of the show occasionally as a child, but not enough to have toys or pictures for the challenge.  I do remember the episodes focusing mainly on the father (Fred) so I chose to do a layout for photos of my wonderful husband.    Unfortunately, I thought I had another week and my photos weren’t ready in time to place in the layout.  The layout will hold three 3.5 x 5 portrait photos.
I used a sketch from Paper Secrets, and their CAMP challenge.  You have to use something on your layout starting with each of the letters.  C  = cork chevrons. A = Antique Linen distress ink to color the tag and a tiny sticker Alphabet to spell father.  M = mist in two colors dropped in both corners. P = patterned paper by Echo Park and Fancy Pants.
The tag, twine and star actually all started out white, and I used distress ink to color them.  The tag is Tim Holtz Antique Linen and the twine and star are Vintage Photo.  I wanted to highlight this to show you can use your current stash on many layouts without having to go buy more.  Just have to think outside the box a little bit.
I hope you have some fond memories of the Flintstones and will create a layout to join us.  Link up by August 31st.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Child’s Play Challenge – Weebles

August 6, 2014

Time for another fun reveal from the Child’s Play Challenge team.  We were challenged to use the toy…Webbles.  The slogan of the toy is Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down.  While our son had some Weebles I didn’t have any pictures of him playing with them.  I decided instead to go with the fall down part of the rhyme.  I used pictures of when hurricane Sandy struck, and our son had to come to work with me since daycare and home were without power.
To go with the falling down/tipsy feeling of Weebles I used a mid July sketch from ScrapMuch? I thought the skewed accent paper worked perfectly.  All the papers and elements are from the Bella Blvd Max collection, and I even added some outlining in my stars (my attempt at doodling).  The amazing tab pulls a photo out of the street signs knocked over.
I hope you enjoyed my reveal, and that you will come over and join us.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!
