Father Son Bike Trip Scrapbook Layout

February 6, 2019

Hey crafty friends!  Thanks for joining me today as I share this Father Son Bike Trip Scrapbook Layout.  I was inspired by one of the case files over at Color, Stories, Inspiration.  They have three pieces to use as inspiration, but the one that really struck me right away was case file 272.

Color Stories Inspiration case 272

The first thing that jumped out at me about the case was the children, or they could be elves, were outside playing in the tree with birds and squirrels.  I had photos of my husband and son out enjoying nature on an 18 mile bike ride.  Totally fits right!?

The light background of the inspiration scene also provided inspiration for the background paper I chose to use.  I don’t usually use patterned paper for my background, but this one wasn’t so overwhelming that I thought I could work with it.

There was also paper with bicycles on it, and since this was a bike trip, that obviously had to go on the page as well.  There was also one bicycle sticker on the sticker sheet, but can I tell you how huge it was! This was one of those collections where all the ephemera was just so large.  My solution was to cut the bicycle off the front sheet where it shows you all the paper partners in the kit.  It was just the perfect size!

The large photo on the page is 4 but about 5.5.  The two smaller photos are 2×2 made using the collage function in picmonkey.  With the college function I can print six 2×2 photos on one 4×6 paper.  I’ll plan two pages that have small photos and print one 4×6…saves my photo paper and ink that way.

Thanks for sticking with me as I explained this page.  I hope to do at least one more of the case files this month so keep a look out for that.  In the mean time….stay crafty!

Camp Out Fun | Echo Park | CSI

November 21, 2017

Hey crafty friends!  I’m glad to be joining with you today with a layout I created for the November 1st challenge over at CSI, Color Stories Inspiration.  The first challenge of the month has a sketch component as well as the case file.  Here’s my take on the challenge.
For the color portion of the challenge I used the brown on my background.  The crimson and yellow are rather obvious, but then we reach the two grey components.  I struggles to get those two shades appropriately incorporated.  The plan gray is what I inked the edges of the spotted paper and the dog element with.  The darker grey are in my tag at the top and my wood dots are dark grey.
For the evidence I have four (instead of the required three) items included.  The blue paper behind my photos is striped and is part of the Echo Park Pinstripes and Petticoats collection. I then used a dog in the middle for the animal component.  The woodgrain tag at the top, wood dots, wood arrows and stars near the journalling complete my evidence.

To round out my page we come to the testimony part.  I did two of the items…stars near my journalling prompt and the inspiration wood of outside for the entire layout.
I hope you enjoy what I’ve created today and will go over and check the challenge out.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Chill Out | CSI

September 23, 2017

Hey crafty friends!  Let me start today off with a question…how do you write your blog posts.  I’m sitting here today accompanied by Sam and Dean Winchester of Supernatural.  I could watch that series over and over and over…oh wait..I do!
Now the layout I’m blogging about today was created for the September 1st challenge as CSI Case Files.   I used products from the July 2015 My Creative Scrapbook kit.
Beach layout created with Doodlebug and Pebbles supplies
My background paper, which has all the required colors from the case file, is from the Doodlebug  Sunkissed collection.  This paper also fulfills the driving me dotting challenge at Southern Girls.
I think my favorite part of the page though is the Chill Out title from Pebbles Fun In The Sun collection.
For the testimony part of the case file I chose to journal about the differences between our son and daughter on the beach.  It’s like night and day!
For the three evidence items I backed my photos with grid paper, used striped button from Shimelle, and have a seagull as an embellishment on the lower left photos.
I really find these cases fun to work because they make me think harder about using my supplies to meet the criteria.  If you join the cases I’d love to see what you create.  Leave me a link.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Together | Felicity Jane | CSI Case File 233

July 18, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  I’m back today with a layout I completed at the crop I went to a week or so ago using the sketch and color challenge from CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration.
We needed to use the colors carnation, page sage, sage, white and light yellow.   The colors fit perfectly with my Felicity Jane Caroline kit that I was trying to use up. Most of the colors are easy to see, but the light sage is what is backing my photo.

I also altered the sketch to use just the one large photo rather than two small ones.  I swapped the banner for a just a large solid piece, but still kept the embellishments trailing from one side of the photo to another.  I filled in the trailing embellishments with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Black Velvet.  I felt like it gave it just the right amount of messy.
Well…I think that’s it on this one.  I have a few more layouts from this kit to share as I killed it so until next time…stay crafty!
