How to create a sparkling one year old girl birthday scrapbook layout

May 15, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  I’m back today sharing another layout for the Use Your Stuff challenge blog. Our challenge this week was to make a metallic or sparkle layout.  What better way to use sparkle than on baby J’s first birthday pictures.
How to create a sparking one year old girl birthday scrapbook layout
I started with a sketch I found on PageMaps. it gave me the perfect base for what I wanted to include.  The large photos of obviously of J in her birthday outfit.  The two smaller photos are the cake her auntie made her and the flower we used to decorate inside of paper decorations.
The aqua cardstock base is from an old DCWV pack that I wish they still made.  I’ve been hoarding the last bits.  The patterned paper is Echo Park Birthday Wishes.  To make it metallic though I “painted” some of there cupcakes with Wink Of Stella in Clear and Light Green.
I also added a splash of sequins around the page, and a glitter chipboard title. To finish it off I used glitter pens from Kaiser Craft and some Heidi Swapp Color Shine.
I was really pleased with how this came out…it’s one of those photos that you have such high hopes for because it’s so special, and it’s just perfect.  I hope you love what I’ve created, and as always…leave me a link with what you created and I’ll be sure to comment.

Big Boy Bed

May 6, 2016

So I’m sharing a layout with you today for Scrapbook Challenges.  This was a bit of a challenge for me…not because of the sketch, but because of the photos.  The photos are a memory I wanted to scrap, but weren’t overly colorful or exciting.  Our son was always a bad sleeper, but when we moved him to his toddler bed he slept so much better.  He loved laying in it “reading” (bottom photo) and even tried to make the bed everyday (top photo).  See why I wanted to scrap them!?
To jazz the page up I used some modeling paste mixed with Tim Holtz distress paint through one of his stencils. The paper layers are all from a DCWV stack.  I really like the stack, but don’t like that their papers don’t have any matching embellishments.  To rectify this I used some star dies and matching paper.  Using some various size pop dots they look really cool.
The tags at the top, along with the circle at the side are from the Scraptastic subscribers print and cuts.  This is the first time I’ve used that feature on my Silhouette and it was rather fun.
So what do you think of my creative embellishments?

Southern Girls Reveal – Word Challenge

October 16, 2014

Welcome to another reveal at Southern Girls Challenge. This time we are challenging you to use lots of words on your project.
For my project I started with an older DCWV paper stack called Linen Closet.  I loved this, but have only ever been able to find the mat stack so I used it mainly for cards and hoard it like there’s no tomorrow.  Anyone else do that with your favorite papers?
I then pulled out one of the Stamps of Life sets I purchased the Somerset, NJ Scrapbook Expo.  I am absolutely in love with this set, and it’s matching dies.  Having the dies makes the cup, and label, so easy to use.  Click Here to see everything I purchased at the expo.
I used chocolate ink from Color Box for my stamping…a freebie I got at the expo  To give a little interest I just added three My Minds Eye wooden dots.
I’m going to make a whole set of matching cards to give to my coffee obsessed sister.  Anyone she sends them too will certainly know it’s from her.  Would love to see what you come up with for the words challenge.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

1st Day Of Pre-School Layout

October 12, 2014

Hi everyone!  Our son was so excited to start Pre-K this year, and when I saw how the pictures came out I had to scrap them right away.
I used the October sketch from DCWV as my starting point.  Both of my background papers come from a DCWV stack.  They don’t make the green paper anymore, and this was my last piece.  It’s my favorite green ever!
The patterned paper stars are cut with dies.  The solid stars are from the Stamps of Life All 4 Stars set. The wood veneer stars, and the green solid star, are from Studio Calico.
I used stars and space paper because to us our son is a star and out of this world…corny…I know!
The awesome title comes from Paper Wizard. It’s four different layers and gives great depth to the layout.  If you haven’t used any of their die cuts yet…you have to check them out!
I hope you’ve enjoyed my layout and will take a look at the vendor I used and the challenges I entered.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Ray of Sunshine Layout

January 22, 2014

If you are looking for the Get Inky Hop – Please click HERE

I had some fun pictures of our son playing at the beach…well as much playing as a nine month old does, but I was stuck on how to use them.  I then came across the Child’s Play Monopoly challenge, and the arrow on the go tile of the board hit me.  I was going to use arrows since in the pictures he’s upside down and sideways!
I also wanted to use the new Inspired By challenge over at Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap.  It was an awesome sketch!

The sketch only used one photo, but I wanted to use three so I grouped them all very closesly to achieve the same effect.  I also used my arrow strip to mimic the strip in the sketch, but also to place the round area at the corner of the photo just like the sketch embellishment. Some misting and enamel dots completed my sketch “copying”.
If I was to do the layout again I think I would emboss the red paper (which is actually a red and brown tiny chevron) with swiss dots to match the outter dotted paper.  All in all I’m pretty pleased with how it came out.
