Pretty Princess Scrapbook Layout

June 26, 2019

Hi guys!  Welcome back to a layout post here at The Paper Addict.  I’ve been scrapping a bit if you’ve been watching you my youtube channel, but I’m glad to be back blogging again too.  This pretty princess scrapbook layout was created for the newest challenge over at Southern Girls.

For this round my team used stripes on their projects.  I have used stripes in two different ones on this layout.  Can you find them both? One is fairly obvious and the other, in person, is much more subtle.

If you watched my first Crafty Maven Getaway Youtube Hop video this princess scrapbook layout is the accompanying page to that layout. The event was a pretty princess photo shoot our daughter was invited to for her friend Tessa’s birthday.

Thanks so much for sticking with me.  Until next time….Stay Crafty!

Carousel Scrapbook Layout

December 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome to my final reveal of the year for Scrap Our Stash.  Our second reveal of the month is always our blend a sketch, and this time we also had to use three or more of the same embellishments.  I hope you enjoy the carousel scrapbook layout I created based on the challenge.

Usually the sketch blends don’t pose a challenge for me, but this time they gave me pause.  Bear with me as I explain my convoluted thinking.

The left hand sketch had two square photo so I went with two square photos, but mine are 3×3 rather than 4×4.  The left sketch had the photos in the upper left, but the right hand had some on the lower right…photo placement chosen.   The right sketch had flower tucked behind the layers.  Two in one cluster and one in another.  I did the same just one at the top and two on the bottom.  See how convoluted it is?

We also had to have three, or more, repeating embellishments on our page.  The flowers that I pulled from the right hand sketch also doubled as my three repeating items.  I also used the banner strip in three places to further emphasize that concept.

Use mixed media and paper scraps to create a carousel scrapbook layout. Concept could be applied to any theme easily by just changing the colors and title.

As a side note the title was cut from my silhouette using patterned paper from the kit and the font sweet pea.  To make it stand out I added a black offset.  The offset feature is exclusive to silhouette from what I understand and not available on cricut.  I am forever a silhouette convert.

Ok, thank you for dealing with my convoluted thinking during this layout and my attempt to explain it.  I can’t wait to be back with you again…maybe with a little less rambling…lol  Until next time…stay crafty!!

Family Christmas Scrapbook Layout

December 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends! Welcome to my first December reveal for Scrap Our Stash.  For the Golden Globe challenge we were to use the movie Gift Of Love (another I’ve never heard of), create a winter layout and use snowflake embellishments.  Tall order right!  Well, I think my family christmas scrapbook layout fits the bill in a non traditional way.

Since I haven’t seen this movie either I went with the Christmas theme from the title and choose a photo of my parents and our family friends Nathan (and his family) taken last Christmas.  I have known Nathan my entire life, and his sister was the matron of honor in our wedding if you’ve seen any of those layouts.  He lives in Georgia now so we don’t get to see him as often as we’d like so I had to make sure to document this photo. I went with non traditional Christmas colors because honestly…I find them hard to work with.

Need to create some Christmas layouts, but tired of traditional red, white and green? Come over and see my Family Christmas Scrapbook Layout.

Another requirement for this challenge is that the layout is that the layout be winter themed.  Since my family lives in the northern hemisphere Christmas occurs during winter.  Sneaky way to fit it in 🙂

Finally we had to use snowflakes as part of our embellishments.  I have four scattered around the page.  I used foil ones so that they would be on the page, but your eye wouldn’t go right there and scream…SNOWFLAKE!!!  Can you find all four?

I think that’s it for now guys.  Stay tuned for the last reveal of the year for Scrap Our Stash coming on the 23rd.  It also happens to be my brother’s birthday 🙂  Until next time…Stay Crafty!!

Friendship Scrapbook Layout Using A Cut File

August 10, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today, I’ll admit a day late, with my first August post for Scrap Our Stash. This month for the Golden Globe challenge we needed to be inspired by the movie Thelma & Louise and include the word friend somewhere on our layout.  What I came up with was a friendship scrapbook layout using a cut file from the Paper Issues store.

I have been diligently working on going through old photos and scrapping the important ones, and yes gasp, throwing unimportant ones away.  The photo on this page was taken are our sons first birthday party.  The young lady on the right is my sister-in-law and the young lady on the left is my sister. The two young ladies on either side of me I have been friends with since birth and they are sisters as well! The other young lady is my friend Jaime who we met at church 15 years ago. We’ve all been through the ups, downs and sideways together.

This friendship scrapbook layout using a cut file gives you ideas on how to use your old stash in a new way while making a stiking project.

The paper collection is a rather old Jillibean Soup collection called cold Avocado Soup.  In addition to working on old photos I have been pulling out old kits to get used up. I’ve been challenging myself to use one before moving on to something new.  It’s worked really well and I believe I’ve killed at least ten so far this year in addition to using some new things.

As you can see I backed each heart with patterned paper from the kit.  I was pretty close to finishing the kit while making this layout, and the cut file helped use scraps rather than needing a whole sheet.  The hearts also gave me a place for my embellishments.  I also choose to put the word friend in a heart to meet the challenge, and so it wouldn’t be floating off in space.

This was really a fun challenge, and I hope you’ve enjoyed what I came up with.  Now it’s your turn to join.  Please remember to always leave me a link in the comments if you join so I can be sure to check your creation out too.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Wedding Hairdo Scrapbook Layout

August 8, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another page reveal for Southern Girls Challenge. Team Lou was challenged to add some stamping to their project.  I pulled out some old items in my stash and created a wedding hairdo scrapbook layout for my sister’s wedding.

My sister was married the day after Christmas, one month after getting engaged and while I was six months pregnant…fun times 🙂  I had never done hair before, but she wanted something simple and wanted to look like herself so I just did a simple around the head braid.  These photos were taken while I was doing that…without even a practice run.

The paper that I used for this is Carta Bella’s rustic elegance.  It’s a wedding paper, but isn’t all I do and black and white.  It has soft colors and hearts and flowers…perfect for letting the photos shine.

To meet the stamping requirement I used an old Stampin’ Up hexagon set that had a matching punch.  The set had patterned hexagons and one with just an outline. I used use the outline so that the stamping didn’t compete with the punched paper.  I feel the patterned stamps would have overwhelmed the soft feel of the paper.

Since there were three photos on the page, and the hexagons themselves were visually very busy, I left everything else very simple.  A simple black title and two small journalling squares were my only embellishments.  The only other thing I added was some gold ink splatters as it is a wedding after all.

I hope you have enjoyed this layout share, and I hope you’ll come over and join the challenge as well.  Don’t forget that if you do leave me a comment with your link so I can be sure to pop over and check your creation out.  Until next time…stay crafty!
