Celebrate Card

May 21, 2014

The Crafting With Dragonflies blog is celebrating their first birthday, and having a celebrate card challenge.
I chose to make this card with this Close To My Heart sentiment because it’s cute, but also generic enough that I could use it for many different occasion rather than just one.
I started with a Doodlebug Designs card base and inked the edges in a slightly lighter green.  Added some co-ordinating wash tape, and the cut out with stamped sentiment.  The green gem is from Queen & Co. Easy and quick, but very cute too.
I also want to enter this card in the Sister Act Card Challenge: Anything goes.  Make sure to check them out often as they have really cool card challenges.
Until next time….Keep on creating!

Scrapstuffz April Sands of Time Reveal

April 14, 2014

Scrapstuffz is teaming with Child’s Play Challenge this month, and we’re doing a sketch (by Laura Whitaker) and a picture challenge.
It took me a really long time to get my mojo on the sand art picture from Child’s Play Challenge.  I thought of beach right away, but just finished our beach pictures last month.  Then I thought about doing just the colors, but I really wanted more than that. As I thought and thought on it I kept coming back to the sand of time as a page theme. It finally hit me to do something of my hubby and I now (11 years later) than all the old pictures I tend to work on.  We’ve stuck together through the sands of time.
I also used the sand thought to create layers like the different color sands.  Each paper layer is on pop dots so there is a lot of height to the layout.
I also used my favorite color (green) on this layout in order to enter Crafts Galore Encore Challenge Blog.  Not only did it meet the challenge, but since the picture was taken outside green worked in that regard as well.
I’m also still undecided on if I need a title or if I’ll leave it as is. Thoughts on that?
I hope you’ll join us.  Since it’s a collaborative month one layout gets you an entry to both challenges!

Blast Off Thank You Card

December 14, 2013

Hi everyone…I’m back today to share with you the thank you cards I made for our little ones third birthday.  We had a Buzz Light year birthday so I wanted to do something space related.  My new Stampin’ Up Blast Off set ended up being the perfect thing!

I really like how this came out.  The space ship is popped up from his passenger really giving the card some depth.  The thank you is flair that I made using my epiphany crafts circle machine.  I have to say I think that’s my favorite tool right now!  The only thing I wanted to do differently was put a picture of each child who attended as the passenger, but I couldn’t get the size just right.
As much as I love the card…if I ever say I’m going to make all my birthday thank you’s again…you have permission to smack me!

Get Inky 3-D Holiday

November 7, 2013

It’s my day to post inspiration over at Get Inky Stamps by Blue Moon Creations.  Their challenge right now is 3-D holiday.
I really have found being on a design team keep me motivated since the topics aren’t always what I’d do or it makes me really think how to use their stamps/ideas to bring you a great idea. I love making holiday cards, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am with how this one came out.
I used my elegant edges cricut cartridge and cut out the red background.  I think it’s just supposed to be decorative, but the border really reminded me of the old gigantic Christmas light bulbs!  The green is then embossed with the Cuttlebug.  The red is popped with 3-D foam dots and the green is adhered to that.
I used the Get Inky 2013 Holiday set and embossed the gingerbread men and fussy cut them.  They are then popped up as well.
Inside is a pop-up card with another gingerbread man popped off of there.  Can we say popped one more time!?
I hope this gives you a holiday idea and that you join us for the challenge.  Are you making your holiday cards this year or purchasing?

1st Birthday Card

July 25, 2013

Just a quick post today to show you a little boys 1st birthday card I made a few weekends ago.  The  digger and dump truck stamp set is by Stampin’ Up.  I believe it’s I Dig You and I’ve heard it’s retired.  I didn’t have access to stamp pads when I made this so I used markers to color the stamps.  I wish the wheels on the dump truck had come out more consistently, but for what I had to work with I’m pleased.  I added the yellow washi tape at the top for an added item of interest.  Do you whip up birthday cards for parties your kiddos are invited too, or do you buy something that matches whatever theme the birthday is?
