Camp Out Fun | Echo Park | CSI

November 21, 2017

Hey crafty friends!  I’m glad to be joining with you today with a layout I created for the November 1st challenge over at CSI, Color Stories Inspiration.  The first challenge of the month has a sketch component as well as the case file.  Here’s my take on the challenge.
For the color portion of the challenge I used the brown on my background.  The crimson and yellow are rather obvious, but then we reach the two grey components.  I struggles to get those two shades appropriately incorporated.  The plan gray is what I inked the edges of the spotted paper and the dog element with.  The darker grey are in my tag at the top and my wood dots are dark grey.
For the evidence I have four (instead of the required three) items included.  The blue paper behind my photos is striped and is part of the Echo Park Pinstripes and Petticoats collection. I then used a dog in the middle for the animal component.  The woodgrain tag at the top, wood dots, wood arrows and stars near the journalling complete my evidence.

To round out my page we come to the testimony part.  I did two of the items…stars near my journalling prompt and the inspiration wood of outside for the entire layout.
I hope you enjoy what I’ve created today and will go over and check the challenge out.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Autumn | Challenge Yourself | Hip Kit Club

October 23, 2017

Afternoon crafty friends!  I’m sharing a layout today that was inspired by two different challenges.  I wanted to use the mood board at Challenge Yourself and the weekly sketch on the Hip Kit Club Facebook forum.
Both of these challenges were perfect to get some of the photos from our recent apple picking trip done.  I took these selfies with each of my kiddos because getting them both to sit still for one together is almost impossible

The products on this page came from an old My Creative Scrapbook kit…Fall 2015 to be exact ๐Ÿ™  The papers included in the clip were from Echo Park’s The Story Of Fall and the chipboard was from Carta Bella’s A Perfect Autumn.
I really like the dimensional interest using some flat stickers and some chipboard gives the page. I used a white pen for my journalling since my favorite black sharpie didn’t really show up.  Do you have a favorite white pen as I’m not sold on the one I have?
Okay – enough chatting for today…back to creating.  Stay crafty!!

Fantastic Four | Scrap The Boys | Southern Girls

October 19, 2017

Hey Everyone!  Thanks for joining me as I share my latest creation.  This is a layout using our nephew’s fourth birthday picture.  He’s five already!
I started the layout with the sketch over at Scrap The Boys and the stripe challenge from Southern Girls.  Both challenges gave me a great jumping off point.
The paper I chose is the Echo Park Birthday Wishes collection. The main reason I chose this collection was that it was out on my desk from two other creations so it was handy.  I did however work in elements from other paper companies to achieve the look I was going for.

I have really been working on combining collections to get things used up.  For example, the letters in the paper collection were just wrong somehow.  Instead of used a combination of tiny letters from Jillibean Soup and Bella Blvd’s Max collection.  The stars were also Bella products that I have two sheets of and I’m trying to get used up.
I hope you like my product mash up, and that it gives you ideas of how to combine collections for a seamless layout.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Happy First Birthday | Echo Park | Stuck ? Sketches

October 17, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Finally here this month with a completed layout.  I’ve been MIA trying to get our sons birthday party planned (projects coming up from that) and getting design team project done in advance.
For today’s layout I used the October 1st sketch from Stuck ? Sketches.  If you’ve followed me for any length of time – you know I love Laura’s work.  I loved this sketch and used it for pictures from our sons 1st birthday party…yes he’s turning 7 next month…don’t judge…lol
The paper is all from Echo Park’s Boy Birthday Wishes collection. The orange party balloon paper is my favorite in the collection along with the spots.  Both were neutral enough to use almost anywhere on the page, but also had enough pattern to make it interesting.
The sketch called for a tag and cluster in the lower left of the page. Let me tell you how much I struggle with that.  I actually recorded this for a process video on my youtube channel and that portion alone took me over 30 minutes.  I finally realized that I was trying to interpret the sketch to literally.  When I gave myself more freedom the corner cluster came together quickly.
To finish the page off I added some of my homemade enamel dots, and outlined the main part of my layout with my favorite sharpie pen.  Hope you have enjoyed learning some about my creation.  I’d love to see what you are working on.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Summer Fun Day | Scrap Our Stash

September 25, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  I’m here today with another layout!  Can you believe it!?  This is the most I’ve gotten done in a month in a long time.
This layout was created with an old My Creative Scrapbook Kit (July 2015!), and a sketch from Scrap Our Stash.
One of the thing about the Scrap our Stash challenge is you also had to use the work learn.  You had to use one thing for each letter. Mine was L – layers of patterned paper E – enamel dots A – asterisk embellishment – R – raised (puffy) title N – no splatters and natural wood button.

I also used the spotted paper for the dotty challenge over at Southern Girls Challenge blog.

I also am calling this kit killed.  I have learned that when I have to phone a friend and say “Why don’t I like this layout, and how do I fix it!?” that I’m done.  Thank goodness all I had left was one full sheet of paper and some scraps.
    Until next time…stay crafty!
