Dream Little Girl Scrapbook Layout

July 17, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  I’m so happy to be back sharing a new creation with you.  I made this Dream Little Girl scrapbook layout for the July challenge over at Scrap The Girls.  The have a fun mood board as inspiration this month.

Scrap the girls July 2020

I muted the colors from the board a bit when creating my layout, but kept the fun feeling from the girl having candy.  I used photos from our little girls third birthday shoot  in which she was being sweet rather than sassy to play into the candy theme.  She’s also wearing pink and aqua which are in the mood board.

Dream Little Girl

Since I was at the end of the Simple Stories Enchanted collection so I didn’t have much left.  It was one piece of 12×12 and the cut apart cards.  I went with a grid layout because it allowed me to use the cut apart for matting and squares other than my photo.  I embellished each square with matching piece from the die cut packet.

Dream Little Girl Scrapbook Layout

Some of the die cuts were silver foil and they gave the grid just a little extra something.  I used the word dream as my biggest little, but each block really could have been a title in and of itself.  And let’s not even talk about how cute our little girl is in these.  It’s so hard for me to believe she’s 4 already!

Well, I think that’s it for now.  Tell me what you’ve been creating and be sure to head over to Scrap the Girls and see all the inspiration they have provided for the mood board.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Of All The Fish | The Secret Not Secret Kit Club

December 18, 2017

Hi crafty friends!  I got so much done this weekend because of The Secret Not Secret Kit club scrappy party that I’ll have several things to share with you over the next several days.

The page I’m sharing was for a see through it challenge.  You had to use things like vellum, acetate, photo overlays, etc in two different ways on your page.
The first way I used vellum was in this title card.  I backed the fish cutout with the same patterned paper I used to mat the entire layout.  It was to vibrant though so I added a square of vellum.  It allowed the pattern to tie in the card, but muted the color a bit.
The second thing I did was to use a photo overlay on the photo in the lower right corner.  The photo of us ladies at supper didn’t have the greatest color quality so the overlay helped to hind that as bit as well as add a design detail.  The photo overlays came in a kit I won from Rochelle Spears and were part of the June 2016 Scraproom double shot kit.

I also used vellum under the men’s photo and the square under the journalling.  It just needed a touch more softness in those places since the paper (My Mind’s Eye By the Sea collection) was so bold.
I appreciate you joining me today, and if you want to see other layouts in this color scheme please make sure to check out Best of Friends or for another beach layout check out Chill Out. Until next time…stay crafty!

Saturday Snuggles | Secret Not Secret Kit Club

December 16, 2017

Hey Crafty Friends!  It’s been awhile, but I’m back with a new project.  I actually took the pictures today, scrapped the photos today and am now blogging it all in the same day…who am I??
This layout was created for the December scrapping party at The Secret Not Secret Kit Club.  I can’t wait to get my first kit from them and share it with you.
The first challenge of the day was getting sketchy with Meggy and a sketch by Laura of Beads Buttons and Birds.  Of course I had to take the sketch and flip it on it’s side because why leave anything the way it’s shown right!
The photos are of my kiddos this morning.  We didn’t have anywhere to rush off to…it was snowy…perfect for just relaxing.  After breakfast they snuggled together to watch some cartoons and then J toddled over to snuggle with the puppy for a bit.
If you followed me for a bit you know I’m trying to kill my stash, and at very least my kits.  99% of this layout came from an old (circa 2015) My Creative Scrapbook kit that focused heavily on the Family Frenzy line from Bella Blvd.  The collection is so old that I couldn’t even find any on Amazon!
Most of my accents however came from the Simple Stories We Are Family collection.  The photo stickers came in white, black and color so those were fun to spread around the page along with their self adhesive brads.  I’m usually not great at mixing collections, but these came together easily.
I added some enamel dots, various labels from my stash and some Heidi Swapp color shine in Black Velvet before calling the layout done.
I think that’s it for now.  If you want to see more layouts I’ve done with this kit be sure to check out A Boy and His Dog and Kiss Kiss.  Thanks for joining me today, and until next time.  Stay Crafty!

Then…Now | Simple Stories | Secret Not Secret Kit Club

November 29, 2017

Hey friends.  Can you believe I have two posts in one day!?  This layout was inspired by two things.  I recently joined The Secret Not Secret Kit Club and the owner Khristina  posted a challenge to created a layout inspired by your favorite tv show.  I paired that challenge with the November 1st sketch from Stuck?Sketches.

I have to say this was a really hard challenge for me because Supernatural isn’t a happy happy show, but I didn’t want to make a dark layout and I honestly don’t have anything I would consider dark.
I ended up using the So Rad collection by Simple Stories.  I used pieces of the 12×12 collection, some of the 4×6 cards, some self adhesive brads, die cuts and enamel dots.
I think with what I picked wasn’t happy per se, but the colors brought some life to a darker theme show.  I also added some things from my stash to complete the look I was going for.  The washi tape was from an old Freckled Fawn kit, the twine is from My Mind’s Eye and I inked the edges of the paper with Pumice Stone Distress Ink.
One tip I have is if you want to add small journalling strips like I did is to use a xyron machine to add adhesive.  I used the small x shaped one for these so it didn’t use up my nine inch machine cartridge.  I have previously used a glue pen, but every layout I used them on the strips have fallen off, but I haven’t had any trouble with the xyron.
To finish it of I added some of the best quotes from the show.  One from each of the main characters.
Okay, enough rambling for now – let me get back to creating.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Explore| Felicity Jane | Stinkin Inkers | ScraPerfect

November 7, 2017

Hey everyone!  I’m here today with a double header.  It is my first project for my new team called Stinkin’ Inkers, and also uses products from my other team, ScraPerfect.
The challenge this month at Stinkin’ Inkers is to create a project surrounding being thankful.  This is a photo I took at the beach less than three months after our daughter was born.  I am thankful that I got to spend the last few days of my maternity leave making memories with my parents and kiddos (hubby couldn’t stay as long as we did).

You can see that several of my embellishments on this page are dimensional.  The flair, enamel dots and chipboard.  I attached all of these using my glue of choice…The Best Glue Ever.  If you haven’t seen my video about the strength of this glue please head over to my youtube channel.  It really is great.

The products on this layout are from the Felicity Jane Summer kit.  This is the last layout from that kit that I’ll be sharing.  I got eight from the kit in total.  Until next time…stay crafty!
