Dots and Spots Layout

April 30, 2014

Time for another reveal with Team Trace over at Southern Girls Challenge. The challenge this time is to use dots and spots.
I created these on my layout in groups around the corners where my photos met the middle of my layout.  To do this I used a variety of things so that their would be all different heights and textures.  There are buttons, brads, enamel dots, pearl pens, stickles and drops of color shine.
The photos I chose were of our little one falling asleep in various places during our first vacation.  He was/is a horrible sleeper, but on vacation he never slept so well!

I hope you enjoyed the layout, and that you’ll come link up with us over at the challenge.  We can’t wait to see what dots and spots you come up with!

Ray of Sunshine Layout

I had some fun pictures of our son playing at the beach…well as much playing as a nine month old does, but I was stuck on how to use them.  I then came across the Child’s Play Monopoly challenge, and the arrow on the go tile of the board hit me.  I was going to use arrows since in the pictures he’s upside down and sideways!
I also wanted to use the new Inspired By challenge over at Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap.  It was an awesome sketch!

The sketch only used one photo, but I wanted to use three so I grouped them all very closesly to achieve the same effect.  I also used my arrow strip to mimic the strip in the sketch, but also to place the round area at the corner of the photo just like the sketch embellishment. Some misting and enamel dots completed my sketch “copying”.
If I was to do the layout again I think I would emboss the red paper (which is actually a red and brown tiny chevron) with swiss dots to match the outter dotted paper.  All in all I’m pretty pleased with how it came out.

Get Inky Challenge 18: Onward and Upward

December 3, 2013

I’m back again to post inspiration over at Get Inky Stamps by Blue Moon Creations.  Their challenge right now is Onward and Upward.
This challenge really got to me!  I made a card probably two months ago and let it sit as I wasn’t exactly happy with it.  The more it sat the less I liked it, and couldn’t bring myself to write the post…so I started over. Boy am I glad I did.  I love this card!
I misted white paper with Heidi Swap tinsel to give a night sky twinkle effect, and then used the stars and Happy Birthday sentiment from Get Inky’s sailboat set.  To finish it off I printed and colored their digi rocket in fun kid colors and voila…a card I love!  I probably love it so much as we just had a 3 year old Buzz Lightyear party hear and my house and I must hear “To Infinity and Beyond” 300 times a day!
What are you all creating for this months challenge?

Get Inky Stamps Halloween Challenge Inspiration

October 18, 2013

Hi everyone.  I’m back with another inspiration post for Get Inky Stamps by Blue Moon Creations.  Their challenge right now is Halloween with buttons.
I will admit that this was a very big challenge for me since we don’t “do” Halloween.  I wasn’t even sure where to begin.
I used the Halloween Boo digi stamp cutting the Boo out for the front, and leaving the Happy Halloween for the inside. I used my Copics and glitter to make the boo exciting.  I also used a chicken wire stencil, and glimmer mist, hoping to create a spider web like texture in the background.
I hope this inspires you to join the challenge, and I look forward to seeing your creation.

Kraftie Kre8ations Fall Blog Hop

September 13, 2013

Fall is such a beautiful time of the year, it’s when the leaves start changing colors and everything around us is beautiful. It is also the season of Thanksgiving, which reminds us to take a moment to reflect on all the things we are most thankful for.
We were asked to create a project using at least four of the five fall colors given.  It also needed to be either fall related or have something to do with being thankful.
I created a gift bag out of four tags using the colors and fall stamps.  The larger leaves and pumpkins are a Stampin’ Up set Paisley Prints.  The smaller items I stamped with Denami’s Autumn Set that I then colored with a blender pen and my stamp pads.  I scored it and attached with red line tape.  To make the handle I just tied a length of ribbon in each of the opposing tag wholes.  Really simple to do.
To give you an idea of how big it is I placed a bottle of glimmer mist in the bag.  As you can see it just barely peaks out the top, and it does wiggle side to side.  I think if you were going to a swap or white elephant scrapbook event it would be the perfect gift.
Now make sure you head on over to the Kraftie Kre8ations blog to link up your creation using the fall palette. KK8 is also giving away a prize during the hop. One lucky hopper will receive a gift.  All you have to do is:

  1. Visit each blog
  2. Leave each one a comment
  3. Follow the KK8 blog
That’s it! I heard tell that some blogs in the hop are even offering prizes beyond what Kraftie Kre8ations is!  Oh, and look up the group on facebook too as we have games and swaps on there regularly.  Next,  make sure to visit Becki
