Family Scrapbook Layout

November 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another Scrap Our Stash blend the sketch challenge reveal.  If you’re new to this challenge we take two sketches and pull inspiration from both and then add a twist.  This month our twist was adding banners or pennants.  I completed this challenge with my family scrapbook layout.

Let me start by sharing the challenge sketches so you can see where my inspiration came from:

From the first sketch I used the doily as my inspiration for the large floral cluster coming from the upper left of my photo. I also used the strip idea from the first photo except I put them down the left side instead of right on the photo. From the second sketch I used the square photo shape and single word title. Also, from the second sketch instead of a tag coming from the right side I used a single banner and a floral cluster.  If gave the same size feel, but I was able to use what came in the Felicity Jane kit I was using instead of adding other product. You can also see that some of my puffy stickers are pennant shaped to meet that part of the challenge.

The photo is my brother and his beautiful family.  My nephew is six in this photo and my niece was just six months.  It’s hard to believe she turned one already!

Hope you enjoy my take and can’t wait to see yours.  As always, if you participate in the challenge or create a layout inspired by mine…please leave me a link down below so that I can come check it out!  I love to see what others are creating.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Kids Beach Scrapbook Layout

September 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back here today with my first reveal of the month for Scrap Our Stash. This month’s movie was Transparent.  I must be striking out because this is another one I’ve never heard of, and after reading the synopsis it’s one I’d never put in my play list.  It does have the concept of family so I created a kids beach scrapbook layout from a recent trip with took with my parents.

Use a grid design to create a kids beach scrapbook layout. Grid designs make for a quick and easy way to use scraps and get your photos done.

In addition to using the movie concept we were also challenged to use a grid design and use either a transparency or vellum.  The grid can be seen in my overall shot easily, but the above photo shows better how I used vellum as a layer under parts of my photo.  I used vellum over a transparency because I actually don’t own any transparencies, or acetate even.  I like the look the vellum gave though as it was another layer, but it’s soft and a different texture than paper. What do you like to add to your layouts to give extra texture?

The paper collection is an old one from Carta bella called soak up the sun that I had been trying to to get finished up.  I am happy to report that it’s done and the scraps donated!  I have been getting so much used up  by being part of these challenges.  I think I have killed ten kits so far this year.

Well, I think that’s all I have for now.  I hope you find it inspiring and come over and participate in our stash busting challenge.  Until next time….stay crafty!

10 Month Baby Girl Scrapbook Layout

June 29, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today with a layout for the Southern Girls Challenge.  It’s team Trace’s turn this time, but one of my fellow ladies had something come up, and I’m filling in for her to provide another piece of inspiration for our followers.  The challenge this time is a bit of flash, and I used that for create a baby girl scrapbook layout using our daughters ten month photos.

I am using bits from one of my Secret Not Secret Kit Club kits.  I did an unboxing when I received the kit if you are interested in seeing what I received.   The kit focused on the Cocoa Vanilla Bohemian Dreams collection, and by the time I got to this layout I didn’t have much left so I needed to be a bit creative.

Come get some ideas on creative a baby girl scrapbook layout

To stretch the little bit of paper I had left I added the scallop border.  The polka dot piece wasn’t quite wide enough on it own, but with the border it took up enough of the page that it didn’t look empty.  I also added some washi strips under the photo, and as the base of my cluster on the left.  They were the ride shades, and left my bits of paper for other uses.

Let’s also not forget to talk about the photo…can you handle that scrunchy face smile!  Our little girl was ten months old in these photos, and had just started walking.  Our photographer met us in the center square of our town and we got some great shots of her with the more prominent icons in the town.  In this photo they were playing peek-a-boo around a the column of an old house.  I can’t believe she’s two now!

Well friends,  I think that’s it for now.  I hope you love this page, and if you participate in the challenge be sure to leave me a comment below so that I can check your creation out.  Until next time…stay crafty!

6 Month Baby Girl Scrapbook Layout.

March 21, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Thank you for joining me today for another project reveal for the Southern Girls Challenge.  For the challenge this time we were asked to use die-cuts of some nature.  I chose to create this baby girl scrapbook layout showing our daughter when she was just six months old.

If you’ve been reading along for a bit you’ll know that I’m part of the Secret Not Secret Kit Club.  Once a month they have a scrap party, and for one party we were sent a mystery bag of items we had to use on a page.  It contained two types of die cuts so when I opened it I knew exactly what project I wanted to use it on.  I upped the ante though, and use a third kind!

In my mystery bag was two die cuts – an open heart and a solid one.  I tried watercoloring the solid one and the paper disintegrated.  I used some gold glitter die cuts I had around to replace it.  The open heart I backed with some pattern paper from the Pebbles Spring Fling Collection.  The third kind of die cut was the hexagons you see in the upper left and lower right.  Some are outlined in white and some in black to make them stand out again the page.

In case you’re curious the other things in the mystery bag were the doily, label and cupcake liner that are behind the photo, the two gold tags, the crepe paper at the bottom of the photo, the black twine through my tag and the piece of straw that is cut in half and stapled in each corner.

Well, I think that’s it for now.  Please let me know if you come and join the die cut challenge and I want to make sure to see your creations! Oh, and if you’d like to see another layout from this paper collection be sure to check out Smile Baby Girl.

Quick and Easy Nature Themed Cards

February 21, 2018

Hey crafty friends! I’m glad to be joining you today for another reveal with the Southern Girls Challenge. For this go round we were asked to create nature themed products.  At first I thought this was going to be really challenging for me. I don’t usually use these type of elements on my projects. Then I was working on something else, and the die cuts from the Pebbles Spring Fling collection jumped out at me. After that I had quick and easy nature themed cards all ready for the challenge.

My card stash has been getting low, and we have some birthdays and weddings coming up, so this idea was perfect for that! These cards were created with nothing but scraps of paper I had left, after I killed the kit they came in, and some die cuts I had set aside to donate.  I created a total of five cards in just an hour.  Once I got rolling on looking at the die cuts are card elements it all come together in a snap. You can do the same in a short time when the kiddos are napping, after work, etc.Quick and Easy Nature Themed CardsWhile I used scraps of 12×12 papers I had left…6×6 paper pads are perfect for this as well.  If you love a collection, but don’t want to invest in the whole kit you can do both pages and cards with just the 6×6 pad and die cuts.  By using some foam dimensional squares you can give the die cuts a more chipboard look by popping them up.

I hope this gives you some ideas on how to look at your project left overs differently.  I’d also love to see what you create based on this theme.  Be sure to link up over at Southern Girls and leave me a link too so I’m sure to see it.
