Beach Carbs | Felicity Jane

September 3, 2017

Hey scrappy friends!  I’m here today with a layout inspired by Laura’s sketch over at Stuck ? Sketches.  I don’t usually do layouts that are all strips as they are a challenge to me, but I figured since I’m challenging myself with the no buy I’d also challenge myself to try sketches that I normally would shy away from.
I’m still working on killing my Felicity Jane Summer kit, and this one was made with branding strips, washi and cut up pocket page cards.
The embellishments were also from the kit, but I added my homemade enamel dots, and one of the doilies that I bought in a pack of 1,000!  Leaving the doily white didn’t give it enough umph so I colored it with a Mr. Huey’s ink dauber that I received in a Studio Calico kit year and years ago.
The odd title came from a lack of letters left in my kit, but I does fit if you read my journalling.  Every year on the day my parents leave the beach we go for breakfast as a place called Royal Treat.  They have the biggest breakfast I’ve ever seen, and thick Italian toast…it must be two inches thick.  So the name does fit.
I also turned the turquoise project life card the “wrong way to make the scallops look more like stripes, and I used the black and white stripe branding strip to fit challenge over at Lasting Memories.
Hope you enjoyed reading about my process, and I hope to be back soon with new layouts and even a process video.  I’ve been so busy just creating that I haven’t stopped to filmed anything.  Until next time then…stay crafty!

Happy Little Head | Felicity Jane

September 1, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends…Happy September!  I’m starting the month off by participating in Challenge #359 over at Lasting Memories.  The challenge was to use polka dots.  You can use a little or a lot.

In the main photo it’s hard to see so I took a close up for you.  I also used a stamp that looks like polka dots.
All of these goodies are from the Felicity Jane Summer kit.  I’m working  on using this one up.  So far I’ve gotten five layouts from the kit and I have three full sheets of paper left.  I’m hoping to get at least three more layouts from the kit.  My goal for each one is at least eight.
With that said…I’m off to use a new sketch and try to get that kit killed.  Until next time…Stay crafty!

Jolly Old Nick

December 18, 2016

Sunday must be a good day for me a I’m here with another layout to share with you.  This one, just like my last, was inspired by the sketch at My Creative Sketches.  I am also entering it into the anything goes challenge at Lasting Memories.
I used the My Creative Scrapbook kit from December 2015.  Yes – I still have kits that are a year old…even older if I’m honest.
The photo is from breakfast with Santa from this year.  It was a fundraiser for M’s school and he wanted to attend so badly, but I was working.  My awesome parents stepped in and took the kids.  We’ve never been big on the Santa thing, but now that he attends school with kids who are…it’s rubbed off.  I guess there are worse things that could rub off right!?
Well if I don’t talk to you again this week…Have a Merry Christmas!

College Graduation

June 14, 2015

Welcome to my last reveal for the Lasting Memories challenge blog.  While I may not be designing for them I will certainly try to keep up with their challenges…what a fun bunch of ladies.
For my last assignment we were given a quote about a journey, and it being our own…not for anyone else to understand.  I didn’t go with the theme of the quote, but with the word journey.  My sister recently graduated college and I created a layout with her schools colors and a place for a photo of our family after the ceremony.
The paper is an older Doodlebug Collection and the title is a Heidi Swapp wood piece.  I hope she loves how it came out.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Mr. Smiley Layout

May 10, 2015

Yup…Back again with another Lasting Memories layout reveal.  This time we were asked to create a layout about someone or something that is beautiful to us.  Since hubby was last time I had to do a layout of our son this time 🙂
I used a freebie sketch from Scrapbook Generations for this layout since I haven’t done a double pager in forever.  I also did something I don’t normally do on this layout…mixed manufacturers.  The paper is from Carta Bella’s line Boy Oh Boy, the journalling card is from Fancy Pants Be Different, and the two text embellishments are from JilliBean Soup Could as Cucumber Soup.
The story behind the layout shows exactly our sons personality…see all the smiles in the photos…he had a double ear infection and a 104 degree fever.  Even now, at four, he tries so hard to be smiley all the time no matter what is going on..well unless he’s over tired.  I really hope this continues as he grows up as a positive outlook will help him in life.
   Until next time…Keep Scrapping!
