Hush Layout

February 8, 2015

Wow – I’m here with a layout I did just for me…not for a team.  That feels awesome!  I really liked the inspiration from Stuck?! Sketches and ScrapMuch?.
The ScrapMuch? color challenge asked you to use four of the six colors.  I choose the two shades of aqua and grey for my papers, and the green is in the outfit our son is wearing.  I guess in this case his puppy was the perfect pillow for afternoon nap.
The paper, and stickers, are from the My Mind’s Eye Sweetest Things: Bluebell collection.  I really love MME goodies.  I wish more was available locally.  The doily is a Tim Holtz on the dye die.  I had purchased a few doily’s in the past and never seemed to have the right color.  With the die…problem solved.
So what do your think of the challenges and my interpretation?  I’d love to have your comments.  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Caffeinated Layout

February 1, 2015

Happy SuperBowl Sunday ya’ll!  My team didn’t make the big game, but you can be sure I’ll be watching anyway.  Are you watching? If you are, why don’t you do a layout to join us at Lasting Memories with our newest challenge…favorite food or recipe!
This one gave me pause for a moment because I don’t usually scrap about food.  After some thinking I decided to scrap about one of my favorite pick-me ups…A Starbucks latte!  I broke out the My Mind’s Eye Indie Chic Nutmeg collection and got to work.  I really liked the subtle colors of this collection to highlight my photos.
I also pulled out my Stamps of Life Coffee 4 Two stamp set that accompanied my theme perfectly.  The large cup is stamped directly on the patterned paper and the logo was stamped, die cut and popped up for some dimension.  The small cups down the side are also from the same collection.  This really is my favorite stamp set.
So do you scrap about food?  I’d love to hear about if you do and why.  Until next time…Happy Scrapping!

Mother’s Day Card

January 29, 2015

Hey Everyone – welcome to another reveal at Southern Girls Challenge. We were asked this time to create something with a little sparkle or shine.  I choose to create a sparkly Mother’s Day card for my sister-in-law.  I know it’s really early, but I don’t usually use sparkle having a boy so I thought this was the perfect chance to make a card for a lady.
The paper is from My Mind’s Eye called Indie Chic Nutmeg.  I used this paper to do a layout you’ll be seeing in the near future and wanted to use the scraps for something as well.  The wave is cut with my Kiwi Lane templates.  Since the patterned papers were busy on their own I kept my embellishments rather simple.  The glitter washi tape is from Recollections if I remember correctly, and the bling is from Queen and Co.
So will you be joining us for the sparkle and shine challenge?  Do you mainly create one gender projects and struggle with the other?  Inquiring minds want to know!  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Carousel Ride for Child’s Play Challenge

December 15, 2014

Welcome our final reveal for Child’s Play Challenge ๐Ÿ™  I am so sad to see this challenge blog closing as I’ve loved my time with them, and how it’s challenged me to think outside the box.  I hope you’ll come over and give us a great send off by having the most entries we’ve ever had!  We love seeing your support of our creations and efforts.
Our theme this go round is the classic Lite Bright.  I had one as a girl, but didn’t have any photos of me playing with it.  I choose to use photos of our son’s first carousel ride with twinkling lights in the background.
These papers, and embellishments, are from the older My Minds Eye collection The Sweetest Things – Bluebell. All the papers on this page are from the 6×6 paper pad….love how the smaller patterns let you layer without being overwhelming.
The tag was originally ivory, but with some antique linen and faded jeans Tim Holtz distress ink I was able to create a hue close to what was in the papers.  Some vellum star stickers and ink drops and I had a perfectly simple, but stunning page.
     Until next time…Keep Scrappin!

Let’s Ride – New Bicycle Layout

November 15, 2014

Hi everyone – time for another reveal for Child’s Play Challenge.  This time we were asked to create a layout based on the toy hot wheels.  I have loads of pictures of my son playing with his hot wheels, and even one of him trying to share his apple slices with every truck he owns, but what really hit me was him getting his new balance bike…graduating from a tricycle to two wheels.
I worked with the week one sketch from Let’s Get Sketchy as the three photos inspired me, as well as the simplicity of the rest of the sketch.  I really allowed me to embellish as I chose.
I have had the Boy Crazy collection from My Minds Eye in my stash since maybe April waiting for just the right layout to cut it up.  With the large bicycle sticker…it was just the time.  I chose the star paper for the focus piece since the circles mimicked wheels.  I just layered everything from there.
A little tip…don’t always think of 3×4 or 4×6 project life cards as just for pocket pages.  My title of Lets Ride was cut from a 4×6 card.  Also, don’t think of 6×6 pads as just for cards either.  My banner and squares behind the photos are from a 6×6 pad.  If cut strategically they are great layering pieces.                                                              I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge, and let me knows what Hot Wheels makes you think of. Until next time…Keep Scrappin.
