Back To School Scrapbook Layout

March 3, 2022

Hey crafty friends…welcome back!  I’m here today to share with you a new back to school scrapbook layout.  This layout using a sketch from the January challenges over at Paper Issues, and a collection from Jillibean Soup.

If you’ve been following with me the last few months the January sketch challenges Paper Issues had has really been my jam.  I’ve used so many of them.  There are even ones I’ve used and haven’t shared. Here is the one I used for this layout.

The sketch called for torn papers, which is something I haven’t really mastered yet, so I used the same general shape of the papers, but kept the edges straight cut.  The sketch also called for the embellishments in a vertical fashion across the whole page.  I didn’t have anything that worked in that fashion so I just went with what felt right.

The paper collection I used is a very old one from Jillibean Soup.  So old that unfortunately the company doesn’t make paper anymore 🙁  It’s really sad because they always had nice neutral embellishments and papers.  Back To School Scrapbook Layout

I titled this layout Hello New School because it really was for both of them.  Our girl started Kindergarten this year so for her it was a whole new school.  Our son had been here previously, but did cyber school last year due to everything going on with the pandemic.  His return to the elementary school had him in a new part of he building since he is in 5th grade…all new.

Well – I’m signing off to go and try to come up with what my next creation will be.  I have a die-cut title I want to use, but no papers that really match so it will be a challenge.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Snowman Themed Scrapbook Layout

February 26, 2022

Hey crafty friends! Thank you for joining me today as I share my snowman themed scrapbook layout that I just finished creating. While I always could use more scrapbook time so far I’m getting more than last year so wooohoo!!

I’m still working on using up the old My Mind’s Eye Winter Wonderland collection.  It’s actually all finished, well as much as I’m gonna make it, but I still have a layout or two left from it to share with you. I had some paper left, but there were no more usable embellishments so the rest went in my daughters play bin.Paper Issues Sketch

I started this layout with the above sketch from Paper Issues and the current challenge over at Scrap Our Stash.  I think you can see the sketch in my layout easily as I stuck really close to it.  For the Scrap Our Stash challenge you had to use three or more types of alphas.  When I first set out to use do this challenge I had it in the back of my mind that I’d never be able to do it.  I always feel like I can’t mix my alphabets well, but this time it just came together easily.  On this layout I even managed to use four kinds of alphas and the dots are from a completely different set.

I have always loved the look of stitching on layouts, but it’s something I have never been able to master that skill.  Instead I bought a stitching stamp set, and pulled it out for the first time on this layout.  I love the way it looks.  I just need to get a longer block so I don’t have to repeat stamp and have it look wonky.

Honestly, I think that’s it for now guys.  I hate to ramble anymore.  I’m in the middle of another layout so I hope to be back with something new to share soon.  Until next time…stay crafty!

In The Zone Scrapbook Layout

January 30, 2022

Hey friends!  Sorry I missed you on Thursday.  I wasn’t feeling myself and just sat around all day doing nothing 🙁  I did mange this week to finish my In The Zone Scrapbook Layout today, and thought I’d share it with you anyway.

As per usual lately I started with a sketch from Paper Issues.   In January they had a new sketch every day, and it has brought me so much inspiration. This one had 3 photos which was just perfect for what I wanted to document.

I had two photos from our trip to Schellville Christas Village that documented our son’s favorite part. I really wanted a third though showing the entrance of Snow Zone.  I hadn’t gotten one since it was soooo busy when we went.  I went on the events facebook and found one they posted.  I’ve never done that before, but I found some great ones they took of when the event was empty that I could use as support for mine.

Other than moving my title a smidge I kept fairly close to the sketch.  I’m also running out of useable embellishments so I kept this one fairly simple.  Almost everything I have left is palm sized or larger.  I’m not one for huge embellishments like that.

Well,  off to get my next layout planned.  Hope to have another layout to share soon.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Christmas Train Mother and Son Scrapbook Layout

January 20, 2022

Hey guys!  Can you believe I have a post two weeks in a row!!??  I know I can’t.  This week I have a Christmas train mother and son scrapbook layout to share with you.  I have lots of help with inspiration on this one.

I started with the monthly challenge over at the Challenge YOUrself blog.  This month they wanted you to use the prompt about working together.  They gave several thoughts to use the prompt, but I took it kind of literally.  The photo I’m using was a selfie my son and I took while waiting for the Christmas train ride.  We literally were working together to keep the line fun for our five year old  since the line was rather long.

Paper issues sketch

I also used the above sketch from Paper issues to help get my design going.  I stuck pretty closely to the sketch, except for the title portion.  I used a doily for the triangles to give the same round feeling, but I just couldn’t get my title to feel correct in the round.

The paper are I used are from a very old My Mind’s Eye collection called Winter Wonderland.  I believe this collection was released in 2012.  I’m trying to use this collection up since it’s been in my stash for so long.  I’m hoping to get two more layouts out of what I have left.

Oh before I forget,  I’m on the hunt for a new photo editing website.  The one I have used for years now charges a hefty yearly fee.  What do you all use?

Well, that’s it for now.  I’m so happy to be creating again more regularly.  Until next time…stay crafty.

Mother and Son Scrapbook Layout

September 27, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today sharing a mother and son scrapbook layout for the Paper Issues sketch challenge as well as the thankful challenge from Challenge YOUrself.  I had entered my Mother Daughter layout in the thankful challenge earlier this month so how could I not include photos of my boy and I as well!?

I’m not usually one to gravitate to a sketch that includes triangles as the main element, but with how large these were I knew I could use a 6×6 paper pad easily to get the look they were going for.  I also liked that the sketch had two photos since I had two photos of just M and I during vacation.  Is there a shape you usually shy away from in your crafting?

To get the triangles I cut my 6×6 paper into 5 inch squares and then cut them in half to get my triangles. The striped paper I cut in half again for the triangles in the corner.  It came together really fast when it came to the paper portion.  The embellishments is always where a layout takes me the longest.

I printed my journaling on a scrap of cream cardstock, and cut it into strips.  to do this I start by printing the journaling first on computer paper. After that’s done printing I then cut a square of cardstock larger than needed, and washi it to my paper.  I then run it through the printer again and it comes out perfectly placed on my cardstock.

Mother and Son Scrapbook Layout

Since my paper choices were rather busy, and my journaling took up so much space I kept the embellishments very close to the photo so that they didn’t overwhelm everything else.  A simple title in the triangle at the top and my layout was done.

Thanks so much for joining me today as I show off my creation.  I appreciate each and everyone one of you who read my ramblings as often, or not, that I’m here.  Until next time…stay crafty!
