ScrapStuffz Inspired By February Reveal

February 14, 2014

Happy Valentine’s Day!! Welcome to my February reveal as SSIB.  Let me say right off the bat how happy I am with how this layout came out.  It’s the first layout in awhile that hasn’t felt like work to get it to where I wanted it to be.
I started with the amazing colors and designs in the SSIB photo.  They matched perfectly with the flower from my 2005 wedding. I then saw Sketch #50 over at Sketch ~ N ~ Scrap and fell in love with that too.
As if that was not enough inspiration I also saw that Cards Galore had an add bling challenge, and I knew I was going to enter that one too. I used my wink of stella pens on the flowers, my thickets are white glitter, and there in bling in the upper right corner.  It’s the first time in awhile that I’m combining challenges, and I think it came out lovely!

Kraftie Kre8ations Winnie The Pooh Frame

September 28, 2013

September is National Honey month and Kids Creative Week is this week as well. The KK8 DT was challenged to create a card, layout or project that had kids and Winnie the Pooh. We all know Pooh loves his honey and that no kid can resist that lovable huggable bear…Winnie the pooh.
Winnie is not something I would normally choose to work with so this was a bit of a challenge for me. I also went to the local craft store and they have two Winnie the Pooh stickers…nothing else! After quite a bit of thinking I borrowed the Winnie the Pooh cricut cartridge from a friend and come up with the following altered frame.
I used a 99 cent two sided from from Ikea and cut the honey pot from the cartridge. I then placed the pooh sticker to look like he was holding the pot up. The front is also from the cartridge. It worked perfectly for the hospital photo I used of our little honey since he was in blue the day they took the photos. Who am I kidding…he was in blue everyday for like the first year of his life. He looks wonderful in baby blue!

I challenge you join the design team, and to share your creation over on the KK8 blog. One lucky winner will even win a prize.

Kraftie Kre8ations Design Team Reveal and Blog Hop

August 3, 2013

Kraftie Kre8ations is proud to have this opportunity to introduce our “new design team” members.   We have a talented group of ladies starting this month.  Here is their opportunity to introduce themselves and for us to allow them to truly shine.  Just wait until you see what they have to show you on this hop!  Our sponsor for this hop is Stampin Up!
So for the hop we were asked to create an artist trading card that shows who we are.  My first card shows the life I always thought I’d have.  I would travel or live somewhere abroad, Paris was my first choice, and it would just be me.

Well, then I met the man who would become my husband and my how things have changed!  We travelled before we had M, but choose to stick somewhere closer to home now.  You know what!? Even though it’s not what I imaged…I wouldn’t trade it for the world!  I love very part of our life. Okay, I lie…I hate to have to go to work, but who doesn’t!
We also were given a few questions, and photos to post to help you get to know us better.

What is my scrapbook “kryptonite” or what will you never see on my pages?  The answer is probably two things – feathers and cartoon people.  I don’t mean like Woody from Toy Story, but just cut out of people that don’t look real…it’s just not my thing.

What do I like to watch or listen to while I scrap and why?  I am usually listening to some sort of Disney or Pixar movie, as I do most of my scrapping when M is winding down watching a movie. If I happen to be alone I’ll put on an old favorite movie. I don’t tend to watch new things because I’ll miss something in either the movie or the project.
Two Old Favorites

How do I jump start my creativity when it’s missing?  Pinterest or Google images.  I’ll do a quick search for scrapbook sketches or the topic I’m working on and I usually find something that speaks to me.  If it’s really bad I’ll walk away, get something else done, and come back to it.
At what time of day and I most creative or do I prefer to work?  I’m usually up at 5:30 for work and I find on the weekend even when my family sleeps in I’m often the first one up.  I like to sneak down to my table and work in the peace and quiet before the hub ub of the day begins.
A New Favorite
What is my favorite technique right now and what are some tried and true that I love?  Glitter of any kind and matchy matchy.  I really am one of those people who likes all my things to match perfectly.  It’s why I’ve given in to buying paper pack rather than single sheets since I know they all match.
So now let me tell you how this hop is going to work!   After the hop, we will select the lucky winner from those who commented along the way, and became a new follower of the Kraftie Kre8ations’s Blog, which is the last stop on on the blog trail. We hope that you enjoy our welcoming blog hop!

Good luck and happy hopping!

We’re so glad you decided to hop with us! You’re going to meet some amazing ladies. We hope you have a great time visiting, and are inspired by, all the wonderful Patriotic creations.

My first project is a 12×12 scrapbook layout that I absolutely love.  It was my first time using paints and a banner.  4th of July is a big deal for our family as my sister was born on the 3rd, my Dad is the 4th and cousin Danny is the 14th.  We had gone out to eat the year these photos were taken so no one had a mess to clean up.  It’s really hard to tell, but the red section is where my journalling is.

The star is two layers of chipboard that I painted with acrylic paint.  I rippled the ribbon underneath to hopefully give the effect of a waving flag.  The banner was made with my new Stampin’ Up pendant punch.

For the title I used Cricut Craft Room to weld the letters and then covered them with red stickles for a bit of a pop.  I wanted the colors to be more antique like, but it needed just that pop.
