Of All The Fish | The Secret Not Secret Kit Club

December 18, 2017

Hi crafty friends!  I got so much done this weekend because of The Secret Not Secret Kit club scrappy party that I’ll have several things to share with you over the next several days.

The page I’m sharing was for a see through it challenge.  You had to use things like vellum, acetate, photo overlays, etc in two different ways on your page.
The first way I used vellum was in this title card.  I backed the fish cutout with the same patterned paper I used to mat the entire layout.  It was to vibrant though so I added a square of vellum.  It allowed the pattern to tie in the card, but muted the color a bit.
The second thing I did was to use a photo overlay on the photo in the lower right corner.  The photo of us ladies at supper didn’t have the greatest color quality so the overlay helped to hind that as bit as well as add a design detail.  The photo overlays came in a kit I won from Rochelle Spears and were part of the June 2016 Scraproom double shot kit.

I also used vellum under the men’s photo and the square under the journalling.  It just needed a touch more softness in those places since the paper (My Mind’s Eye By the Sea collection) was so bold.
I appreciate you joining me today, and if you want to see other layouts in this color scheme please make sure to check out Best of Friends or for another beach layout check out Chill Out. Until next time…stay crafty!

So Handsome Layout

August 21, 2015

Every time Laura releases a new sketch to us I’m just so excited to get started…this assignment for ScrapMuch!? was no different.  Doesn’t this sketch leave so much room for some fun things!?

I knew exactly what photo I wanted to use when I saw this….our son’s four year old photo shoot.  This had to be some of the easiest photos we have ever had taken.  We walked into the portrait studio and were out in three minutes…literally…he smiled and did exactly what she said and we had awesome photos to choose from!
I used mainly the Echo Park Jack & Jill collection for this.  The blue and orange was perfect to match our son’s outfit and the feel of the wood background.  The fair is from A Flair For Buttons on Etsy.  If you haven’t checked Shelley’s shop out you really need too.  The orange dot washi is from Queen & Co and the orange cross hatch washi is from Freckled Fawn.  I think that Freckled Fawn washi has been on almost every layout I’ve done since it was received…I just love it!
I also created a process video on this layout.  It can be found on my youtube channel…here.  I’d love to know your thoughts on the video!
Well – enough yacking from me for now 🙂  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Best of Friends Layout

March 15, 2015

Happy Sunday everyone.  I’m sharing a new layout today that I created for the newest Lasting Memories Challenge called Best of Friends.  I had lots of choices for this layout, but no one is better friends that my parents.  In this photo they had been married 41 years!
Even though I knew I wouldn’t have this layout up in time to enter the challenge I used the sketch Laura Whitaker created for the February challenge at Let’s Capture Our Memories.  I started out several years ago not liking sketches, but now I rarely create without one.  Laura is probably my favorite sketch artist by far.
The paper I used for this layout was from the Authentique Anchored collection, and sticker sheet.  The colors in this collection matched the photo perfectly, and the pop of red is tribute to my mom’s favorite color and signature lip color.  The enamel dots are from Queen & Co.
So…who is your best friend, or your ultimate best friend couple?  Come show us!  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!

Mother’s Day Card

January 29, 2015

Hey Everyone – welcome to another reveal at Southern Girls Challenge. We were asked this time to create something with a little sparkle or shine.  I choose to create a sparkly Mother’s Day card for my sister-in-law.  I know it’s really early, but I don’t usually use sparkle having a boy so I thought this was the perfect chance to make a card for a lady.
The paper is from My Mind’s Eye called Indie Chic Nutmeg.  I used this paper to do a layout you’ll be seeing in the near future and wanted to use the scraps for something as well.  The wave is cut with my Kiwi Lane templates.  Since the patterned papers were busy on their own I kept my embellishments rather simple.  The glitter washi tape is from Recollections if I remember correctly, and the bling is from Queen and Co.
So will you be joining us for the sparkle and shine challenge?  Do you mainly create one gender projects and struggle with the other?  Inquiring minds want to know!  Until next time…Keep Scrapping!
