Of All The Fish | The Secret Not Secret Kit Club

December 18, 2017

Hi crafty friends!  I got so much done this weekend because of The Secret Not Secret Kit club scrappy party that I’ll have several things to share with you over the next several days.

The page I’m sharing was for a see through it challenge.  You had to use things like vellum, acetate, photo overlays, etc in two different ways on your page.
The first way I used vellum was in this title card.  I backed the fish cutout with the same patterned paper I used to mat the entire layout.  It was to vibrant though so I added a square of vellum.  It allowed the pattern to tie in the card, but muted the color a bit.
The second thing I did was to use a photo overlay on the photo in the lower right corner.  The photo of us ladies at supper didn’t have the greatest color quality so the overlay helped to hind that as bit as well as add a design detail.  The photo overlays came in a kit I won from Rochelle Spears and were part of the June 2016 Scraproom double shot kit.

I also used vellum under the men’s photo and the square under the journalling.  It just needed a touch more softness in those places since the paper (My Mind’s Eye By the Sea collection) was so bold.
I appreciate you joining me today, and if you want to see other layouts in this color scheme please make sure to check out Best of Friends or for another beach layout check out Chill Out. Until next time…stay crafty!

So Big | Felicity Jane Willow

November 12, 2017

Hey Crafty Friends!  I have a quick post today, have a pounding headache, of a layout I got finished this week.  I started with the sketch from GrandDiva’s Creative Corner and the word art challenge at Rochelle Spears blog.
For the word art challenge my inspiration words were family, thankful and blessings.   I am blessed by this little girl daily and thankful for the time I’m getting to spend home with her.  The photos are the first I took that I looked at her and went…she’s not a baby anymore 🙁
The papers and embellishments on this layout came from the Felicity Jane Willow kit.  I’m really trying to get that one killed this month.  You’ll see where I have two pieces of white cardstock…I tried adding mist and hated it.  I had used liquid adhesive on my other papers so my undu wasn’t working so that was my solution.
Okay – I’m off to lay down.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Family Ties | Felicity Jane

August 23, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  I’m back today with another layout.  This one I actually completely while on vacation. It’s amazing how little you actually need to scrap when away from your space.
This layout was inspired by the rewind sketch at Rochelle Spears blog and the color/friend challenge at GrandDiva’s Creative Corner.  The friend part comes from including a photo of my parents with our kiddos.  Hubby and I are blessed for my parents to be considered friends as well as family.  It also goes with the new beginnings challenge at Use Your Stuff because our baby girl in this picture isn’t even three months, I hadn’t gone back to work yet, and it was our first time away as a family of four.
This layout was made with goodies from the Felicity Jane Summer kit.  The only things I added were some paint splatters from my cheapy watercolor set and some of my homemade enamel dots attached with my scotch tacky glue. I only used the scotch glue rather than my best glue ever because I had forgotten it at home and Michael’s only carried the Scotch.
The cluster in the upper right hand corner is several pieces all stacked together and cemented with my Tim Holtz tiny attacher.  There is washi from the kit, a label, a die cut that had a saying on it, and then a stamp that I cut out.
The stamp is also from the kit.  I’m really loving the sets included each month.  I’ve never been a stamper on my layouts, but I find having them that I do use them and actually reach for them over and over.
Well, we’re off to the beach for a bit as it’s supposed to rain later. Right around nap time…wouldn’t that be perfect!  Until next time…stay crafty!

Going For Gold

January 13, 2016

Thanks for joining me today while I share my newest layout created off the sketch from GrandDiva’s Creative Corner.  It was originally a two page sketch, but I only used the left hand side.  I also used the the mood board from Creating with Paper & More. The mood board had a wood sign in it inspiring the wood grain paper I used for my background.  It also had a child blowing snow that looked like stars…hence the star accents I used around my page.  Lastly, the board had a deer in the left corner. My husband is an avid hunter so it inspired me to scrap about his recent achievement at work.

Last, but certainly not least, I went with Rochelle Spear’s challenge of using twine or ribbon on your layout.  I had a ton of both these items in my stash, but never really use them so this was perfect for me.
I also wanted to include the comments that were posted when his job put the achievement on their wall.  I didn’t want to include four full size photos on the page, and I didn’t want to shrink the photo of him down so I used some flip flaps from Close To My Heart to fit them all in.

Thanks for bearing with me for my super long post.  Hope you love the layout.
