Snowman Themed Scrapbook Layout

February 26, 2022

Hey crafty friends! Thank you for joining me today as I share my snowman themed scrapbook layout that I just finished creating. While I always could use more scrapbook time so far I’m getting more than last year so wooohoo!!

I’m still working on using up the old My Mind’s Eye Winter Wonderland collection.  It’s actually all finished, well as much as I’m gonna make it, but I still have a layout or two left from it to share with you. I had some paper left, but there were no more usable embellishments so the rest went in my daughters play bin.Paper Issues Sketch

I started this layout with the above sketch from Paper Issues and the current challenge over at Scrap Our Stash.  I think you can see the sketch in my layout easily as I stuck really close to it.  For the Scrap Our Stash challenge you had to use three or more types of alphas.  When I first set out to use do this challenge I had it in the back of my mind that I’d never be able to do it.  I always feel like I can’t mix my alphabets well, but this time it just came together easily.  On this layout I even managed to use four kinds of alphas and the dots are from a completely different set.

Snowman Themed Scrabook Layout

I have always loved the look of stitching on layouts, but it’s something I have never been able to master that skill.  Instead I bought a stitching stamp set, and pulled it out for the first time on this layout.  I love the way it looks.  I just need to get a longer block so I don’t have to repeat stamp and have it look wonky.

Honestly, I think that’s it for now guys.  I hate to ramble anymore.  I’m in the middle of another layout so I hope to be back with something new to share soon.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Carousel Scrapbook Layout

December 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome to my final reveal of the year for Scrap Our Stash.  Our second reveal of the month is always our blend a sketch, and this time we also had to use three or more of the same embellishments.  I hope you enjoy the carousel scrapbook layout I created based on the challenge.

Usually the sketch blends don’t pose a challenge for me, but this time they gave me pause.  Bear with me as I explain my convoluted thinking.

The left hand sketch had two square photo so I went with two square photos, but mine are 3×3 rather than 4×4.  The left sketch had the photos in the upper left, but the right hand had some on the lower right…photo placement chosen.   The right sketch had flower tucked behind the layers.  Two in one cluster and one in another.  I did the same just one at the top and two on the bottom.  See how convoluted it is?

We also had to have three, or more, repeating embellishments on our page.  The flowers that I pulled from the right hand sketch also doubled as my three repeating items.  I also used the banner strip in three places to further emphasize that concept.

Use mixed media and paper scraps to create a carousel scrapbook layout. Concept could be applied to any theme easily by just changing the colors and title.

As a side note the title was cut from my silhouette using patterned paper from the kit and the font sweet pea.  To make it stand out I added a black offset.  The offset feature is exclusive to silhouette from what I understand and not available on cricut.  I am forever a silhouette convert.

Ok, thank you for dealing with my convoluted thinking during this layout and my attempt to explain it.  I can’t wait to be back with you again…maybe with a little less rambling…lol  Until next time…stay crafty!!

Family Christmas Scrapbook Layout

December 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends! Welcome to my first December reveal for Scrap Our Stash.  For the Golden Globe challenge we were to use the movie Gift Of Love (another I’ve never heard of), create a winter layout and use snowflake embellishments.  Tall order right!  Well, I think my family christmas scrapbook layout fits the bill in a non traditional way.

Since I haven’t seen this movie either I went with the Christmas theme from the title and choose a photo of my parents and our family friends Nathan (and his family) taken last Christmas.  I have known Nathan my entire life, and his sister was the matron of honor in our wedding if you’ve seen any of those layouts.  He lives in Georgia now so we don’t get to see him as often as we’d like so I had to make sure to document this photo. I went with non traditional Christmas colors because honestly…I find them hard to work with.

Need to create some Christmas layouts, but tired of traditional red, white and green? Come over and see my Family Christmas Scrapbook Layout.

Another requirement for this challenge is that the layout is that the layout be winter themed.  Since my family lives in the northern hemisphere Christmas occurs during winter.  Sneaky way to fit it in 🙂

Finally we had to use snowflakes as part of our embellishments.  I have four scattered around the page.  I used foil ones so that they would be on the page, but your eye wouldn’t go right there and scream…SNOWFLAKE!!!  Can you find all four?

I think that’s it for now guys.  Stay tuned for the last reveal of the year for Scrap Our Stash coming on the 23rd.  It also happens to be my brother’s birthday 🙂  Until next time…Stay Crafty!!

Family Scrapbook Layout

November 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another Scrap Our Stash blend the sketch challenge reveal.  If you’re new to this challenge we take two sketches and pull inspiration from both and then add a twist.  This month our twist was adding banners or pennants.  I completed this challenge with my family scrapbook layout.

Let me start by sharing the challenge sketches so you can see where my inspiration came from:

From the first sketch I used the doily as my inspiration for the large floral cluster coming from the upper left of my photo. I also used the strip idea from the first photo except I put them down the left side instead of right on the photo. From the second sketch I used the square photo shape and single word title. Also, from the second sketch instead of a tag coming from the right side I used a single banner and a floral cluster.  If gave the same size feel, but I was able to use what came in the Felicity Jane kit I was using instead of adding other product. You can also see that some of my puffy stickers are pennant shaped to meet that part of the challenge.

The photo is my brother and his beautiful family.  My nephew is six in this photo and my niece was just six months.  It’s hard to believe she turned one already!

Hope you enjoy my take and can’t wait to see yours.  As always, if you participate in the challenge or create a layout inspired by mine…please leave me a link down below so that I can come check it out!  I love to see what others are creating.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Father Son Simple Scrapbook Layout

November 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back for another Scrap Our Stash project reveal. For this go around I created a father son simple scrapbook layout.  I wanted to show that you can create a cute project is very little time without having to have a large stash or the latest products.

If you’ve been following me on my scrap our stash team journey you won’t be surprised that I hadn’t seen/ didn’t know what the movie we were challenged with this month was.  We were to use A Star Is Born as well as using star paper and/or embellishments, and a certain quote.

I went with just the star theme since I didn’t know anything about the movie.  The photo is of my hubby and our son when he was learning how to ice skate a few years ago.  I believe my hubby started teaching him to skate at four!  This weekend he will start his first ice hockey team practice.  Our little star is born…see how I tied that in…lol

Come create a father son simple scrapbook layout with me. Layout can be created in less than 30 minutes using whatever papers you have on hand.

For the quote portion of the challenge I wrote it on the little fish tail embellishment on the lower right hand side of the photo.  This layout is so clean and simple I felt like it looked out of place anywhere else. I’ll actually do my journalling on the back of the page too to keep the simple look.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on the challenge, and seeing how a simple layout can be lovely too.  I’d love to see what you come up with based on this challenge, or even my layout.  If you play along please be sure to leave me a link so that I can check it out too.  Until next time….stay crafty!
