Boy Scrapbook Page

October 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m happy to be back today sharing another layout for Scrap our Stash.  If you have followed my blog for a while, or their page, you know that the second challenge of the month is to combine two sketches, but with a twist.  For this month I have chosen to create a boy scrapbook page. I’ll admit that I mashed these sketches so much that you probably can’t see either of them in this layout.

Need boy scrapbook page layout ideas? Look no further than this clean and simple boy scrapbook page that can be completed in under an hour.

I took the shape of the photo from the first sketch and the strip at the top of the page and used a strip on the top of my diagonal pattern. From the second sketch I used the fish tail banner turned sideways and the ink splatters.

A bit about the photo – the young man on the left if our son Michael and the other two boys are two my girlfriend Katie’s seven boys.  I have known Katie since I was born, and she was the matron of honor in my wedding.  To make it even more special our son and Elliot (young man on the right) were born 11 days apart.  Friends from birth…just like us! As another fun fact…The young man in the middle (Colson) and my nephew are almost the exact same age too.

I’m really happy with how it came out, and how our son will have this page of his first friends forever. Can’t wait to see how you blend them together. Make sure to send me a link if you join the challenge! Until next time…stay crafty!

Long Title Scrapbook Layout

October 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  Glad to be back again so quickly.  This time I have a long title scrapbook layout to share with you as part of the Scrap Our Stash Golden Group challenge for October.

For this challenge we were asked to use the movie Sing as inspiration, and to add bling/whinestones to our layout.  This was the first time I had actually seen the movie we were asked to use so that finally clicked, but I don’t have a big stash fo rhinestones so that was my challenge for this project.

As my nod to sing I used a long title which is a lyric from a Kane Brown song.  It’s appropriate for a picture of my hubby and I because I am a worry wart.  I always have a what if for every situation. He is the opposite and always says what if…that doesn’t happen or what if it’s actually good.  I’m so blessed to have that balancing force in my life.

This long title scrapbook layout was created for my husband's 38th birthday using 8.5 x 11 size rather than you standard 12x12.

This kit is from Felicity Jane, and I will tell you it was gorgeous.  If I remember correctly it was the Felicity or Alexis kit.  The puffy stickers were my favorite piece.  I paired the kit with some simple mixed media using the packaging technique.  I did not use gesso prior to the mixed media and since I went light on the water there isn’t much warping thank goodness. I don’t remember where I got the wood flower, but they made a perfect home for a few rhinestones.

I really love how this came out.  The colors are some of my favorite to work with.  How will you interpret the Sing challenge?  Do you use long title?  Make sure to tell me in the comment below.  Until next time..stay crafty!

Kids Beach Scrapbook Layout

September 9, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back here today with my first reveal of the month for Scrap Our Stash. This month’s movie was Transparent.  I must be striking out because this is another one I’ve never heard of, and after reading the synopsis it’s one I’d never put in my play list.  It does have the concept of family so I created a kids beach scrapbook layout from a recent trip with took with my parents.

Use a grid design to create a kids beach scrapbook layout. Grid designs make for a quick and easy way to use scraps and get your photos done.

In addition to using the movie concept we were also challenged to use a grid design and use either a transparency or vellum.  The grid can be seen in my overall shot easily, but the above photo shows better how I used vellum as a layer under parts of my photo.  I used vellum over a transparency because I actually don’t own any transparencies, or acetate even.  I like the look the vellum gave though as it was another layer, but it’s soft and a different texture than paper. What do you like to add to your layouts to give extra texture?

The paper collection is an old one from Carta bella called soak up the sun that I had been trying to to get finished up.  I am happy to report that it’s done and the scraps donated!  I have been getting so much used up  by being part of these challenges.  I think I have killed ten kits so far this year.

Well, I think that’s all I have for now.  I hope you find it inspiring and come over and participate in our stash busting challenge.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Friendship Scrapbook Layout Using A Cut File

August 10, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today, I’ll admit a day late, with my first August post for Scrap Our Stash. This month for the Golden Globe challenge we needed to be inspired by the movie Thelma & Louise and include the word friend somewhere on our layout.  What I came up with was a friendship scrapbook layout using a cut file from the Paper Issues store.

I have been diligently working on going through old photos and scrapping the important ones, and yes gasp, throwing unimportant ones away.  The photo on this page was taken are our sons first birthday party.  The young lady on the right is my sister-in-law and the young lady on the left is my sister. The two young ladies on either side of me I have been friends with since birth and they are sisters as well! The other young lady is my friend Jaime who we met at church 15 years ago. We’ve all been through the ups, downs and sideways together.

This friendship scrapbook layout using a cut file gives you ideas on how to use your old stash in a new way while making a stiking project.

The paper collection is a rather old Jillibean Soup collection called cold Avocado Soup.  In addition to working on old photos I have been pulling out old kits to get used up. I’ve been challenging myself to use one before moving on to something new.  It’s worked really well and I believe I’ve killed at least ten so far this year in addition to using some new things.

As you can see I backed each heart with patterned paper from the kit.  I was pretty close to finishing the kit while making this layout, and the cut file helped use scraps rather than needing a whole sheet.  The hearts also gave me a place for my embellishments.  I also choose to put the word friend in a heart to meet the challenge, and so it wouldn’t be floating off in space.

This was really a fun challenge, and I hope you’ve enjoyed what I came up with.  Now it’s your turn to join.  Please remember to always leave me a link in the comments if you join so I can be sure to check your creation out too.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Purple Wedding Scrapbook Layout

July 23, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m here today sharing my second layout for Scrap Our Stash.  For the second challenge of the month we needed to blend elements of two sketches, and also add sequins.  I used parts of each sketch to create a primarily purple wedding scrapbook layout.

For reference here are the two sketches:

Both sketches had a long element strip…one on the left side and one in the middle. I took that idea and used a strip of paper along the right hand side and added a border to it since the paper I had left didn’t see quite wide enough once I placed my photo down.

Both sketches also had a relatively small title.  Since this was a wedding photo it didn’t need a big explanation so I used the small title idea and used just a single chipboard word from the collection I was working with.

The second sketch also had heart as the main embellishments.  I used some chipboard hearts, metal hearts and two patterned papers that had hearts in them.  You can also see some of my added sequins in this photo.  Have I shared with you before that I found a new way to attach my sequins that works so much better than liquid glue!?  Zots for bling are so much easier to work with for things this small, and you never have any dried glue showing.

Last but not least I saw that both sketches had a banner someone in there. To use this portion of the sketches I added a patterned paper banner under my photo.  I also added some chipboard banner words at the top to bring the concept into another area of my layout.

So how do you think I did combining the sketches?  Can you see the originals in there anywhere?  Be sure to head over to Scrap Our Stash and see what the other design team members created, and I can’t wait to see your creations as well.  Until next time…Stay crafty!
