Hello Adventure Birthday Girl Scrapbook Layout

January 17, 2021

Hey crafty friends!  I hope the start of 2021 is treating you well so far.  I’m back sharing a new layout today for the Scrap the Girls Dead Men Tell No Tails Challenge. Despite the ominous name of the challenge I chose to great a hello adventure birthday girl scrapbook layout. The challenge was using the below image, and one could take inspiration as it struck them.

Scrap the girls inspiration image

The image for me gave me inspiration in three different ways.  The first was the color scheme.  I turned to my scraps of the very old Simple Stories collection called Vintage Bliss.  The collection had pink, aqua, yellow and green just like the above image.

The second way the image gave my inspiration was the flowing hair of the mermaid.  In the one picture our photographer captured out daughters hair is flowing straight out behind her as she played. The third way I received inspiration from the image was the wood of the boat.  I used this to use two wood veneer pieces for my title.

This 12×12 layout was also created using just scraps of a 6×6 paper pad.  I used a sketch from one Alison Davis’s sketchbooks that use only a 6×6 paper pad.  This particular sketch was even better as I was able to use just my scrap pieces and didn’t need full 6×6 sheets.  I didn’t have any embellishments left from this collection so I cut some butterflies from one of the papers, and used some bits and bobs from old Felicity Jane kits as well as some generic things like enamel dots and phrase stickers.

I hope you’ve enjoyed hearing and seeing my take on the challenge, and that is inspired you to play along as well.  If you do play along, please leave me a comment with you link so I can check your creation out as well.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Adorable Baby Girl Scrapbook Layout

August 23, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome to another layout here at The Paper Addict.  Thank you for joining me.  Today I want to share my adorable baby girl scrapbook layout that I created for the August challenge over at Scrap the Girls.

scrap the girls august 2020

This month the blog challenged us to use an inspiration image to create the layout.  It’s one that is VERY open to interpretation. When I looked at the image I saw a lady who looked happy to be opening her heart to new growth.  What better to depict new growth and happiness than a baby.  This lead me to my daughters five month old baby shoot, and one of my favorite photos of her ever.

Adorable Baby Girl Scrapbook Layout

I started with a pink piece of cardstock from American crafts as the base of this layout since I didn’t have any full 12×12 pieces of patterned paper left.  I then took the largest piece of paper I had to create the base.

Everything else on the layout is scraps! I distressed all the edges and layered them in various ways to create a base for them in the middle of the paper.  Some strips long the right edge and paper wise I felt like I had enough interest and any more would be to much.

I sprinkled on my embellishments and a silver foiled title piece and the layout was complete.  It really didn’t take all that long…maybe 30 minutes, which for me is great!

Back to creating I go everyone.  Let me know what you created with this image so I can see how you interpreted it.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Dream Little Girl Scrapbook Layout

July 17, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  I’m so happy to be back sharing a new creation with you.  I made this Dream Little Girl scrapbook layout for the July challenge over at Scrap The Girls.  The have a fun mood board as inspiration this month.

Scrap the girls July 2020

I muted the colors from the board a bit when creating my layout, but kept the fun feeling from the girl having candy.  I used photos from our little girls third birthday shoot  in which she was being sweet rather than sassy to play into the candy theme.  She’s also wearing pink and aqua which are in the mood board.

Dream Little Girl

Since I was at the end of the Simple Stories Enchanted collection so I didn’t have much left.  It was one piece of 12×12 and the cut apart cards.  I went with a grid layout because it allowed me to use the cut apart for matting and squares other than my photo.  I embellished each square with matching piece from the die cut packet.

Some of the die cuts were silver foil and they gave the grid just a little extra something.  I used the word dream as my biggest little, but each block really could have been a title in and of itself.  And let’s not even talk about how cute our little girl is in these.  It’s so hard for me to believe she’s 4 already!

Well, I think that’s it for now.  Tell me what you’ve been creating and be sure to head over to Scrap the Girls and see all the inspiration they have provided for the mood board.  Until next time…stay crafty!

2 Cute Girl Scrapbook Layout

June 30, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back again today sneaking one last blog post in for the month.  For this one I used the sketch from Scrap The Girls to create this 2 cute girl scrapbook layout. Sketches are one of my favorite ways to start a page, and I’m much more likely to enter a challenge if it’s sketch based.  What is your favorite way to start a page or what’s your favorite challenge type?

For this layout I took what I would call the spirit of the sketch and went from there.  For the background pieces and banners I changed them into just horizontal strips to use up my scraps.  I then placed my main photo offset just like the sketch, but I used one photos instead of that whole block.  Then where the bottom balloon is I added a second photo.  I think you can see the sketch in my layout, but it’s not a strict copy.

2 Cute Girl Scrapbook Layout

The photos are of our daughter on our sons first day of school…convoluted right!? I obviously was taking pictures of him and she wanted to be part of the photo shoot.  After he was done I snapped some of her, and they came out just too cute not to document.  You can even see her backward shoes.  Four years old and she still prefers them that way.

Well,  It’s the last day of the month so I better run off and start thinking about what I want to get done for July.  Until next time…stay crafty!

It’s A Girl

December 23, 2016

I love being on vacation!  I haven’t gotten this much done in awhile, and even then it’s not much!  This is another photo taken during our daughters newborn shoot.  She was so very good.
This is a sketch from Creative Scrappers and a mood board from Scrap the Girls. The mood board had different shades of pink as well as a gold glitter.  I used the shades of pink and the rest of the mood board reminded me of a celebration, and what’s a better reason to celebrate than a newborn baby!
Paper is the It’s A Girl collection from Carta Bella.  I will say I had a really hard time matching the pinks on this one to anything in my stash.
Well….I better run – the Christmas cookie timer is calling my name.  Have a Merry Christmas everyone!
