Creating A Unique Star Wars Birthday Scrapbook Layout

May 1, 2017

Hey scrappy friends!  I’m here today with another guest post for the challenge blog Use Your Stuff. This time we were challenged to make something inspired by the Star Wars film.
I had no trouble knowing exactly which photos I wanted to use on this one. The large photo is my brother-in-law on his birthday in the Chewbacca suit we bought him, and the bottom photo is some Storm Troopers from Star Wars night a the local zoo.
Star wars scrapbook layout featuring Simple Stories - Freckled Fawn - Heidi Swapp and the silhouette cameo
So when I first thought about how to make this Star Wars themed beyond the photos I thought of the opening credits and the galaxy look.  The patterned paper on the bottom that gives that same look is from Simple Stories – Heart Collection.  I also used star washi from Heidi Swapp to try to tie in the Star Wars theme.  The rest is just various dollar washi I’ve picked up along the way with some Freckled Fawn embellishments thrown in.  Oh, and last but not least I found the sketch on pinterest.  It didn’t lead back to a post, but the photo said it was from Sketchy Thursdays.
For the really fun stuff though I just googled some Star Wars images and used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo. The title is a Master Yoda-esque quote that I cut with the Star Wars font in the color of the original title.
I hope this shows you how easy it is to combine your stash to get a great layout…even if the elements (love paper) aren’t themed for the exact topic.  Leave me a link with what you create to enter the challenge and I’ll be sure to come take a look!

A House Divided

March 16, 2017

So if you were to come to our home on any given Sunday you’d see me heartily routing for the Miami Dolphins and hubby trying to find the Steelers on a channel we get.  This year the two teams happens to play each other in the Wild Card game in Pittsburgh, which is about five hours from us.
We asked my sister and brother-in-law to watch the kiddos for us that Sunday so we could watch the game in piece.  The readily agreed, but we got a call a few hours later and they said…why don’t we watch them all day and you guys can go the game!
So…I’ve had this photo of us at the game since then waiting for the perfect sketch or challenge.  That came this week in the form of a sketch from Clique Kits and a challenge from Challenge Yourself. For Challenge Yourself I needed to use negative space, which I think I did well in the upper left and lower right.
For my title I used a combination of thickers (my favorite Amy Tan ones) and wood veneer.  I painted the wood veneer with an acrylic paint I received in a Studio Calico kit YEARS ago.  This did remind me why I don’t buy wood veneer alphabets anymore though…only one E in the whole thing!
For the embellishments I printed a series of logos using the print and cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo.  I then inked the edges to make them stand out just a bit as the white edge was just seemed to get lost even though the background was black.
I added some matching sequins and some Steelers ribbon I’ve had in my stash for ages, and called it complete.  I felt like adding anything more would have been just to much.  Thanks so much for checking my layout out, and you never know…if you stay tuned you may see the same photo done for the dolphins side!

Tiny Toes

December 30, 2016

Hi everyone and welcome to the last Scrapping Our Stash blog hop for the year.  I’m your last stop, but you should have arrived here from Majken’s blog.
I’m the only one who didn’t do Christmas for the hop 🙂  I wanted to get the papers in this layout used  up!  It’s a very old Scrapbook Generation kit that I couldn’t use the way they intended so I challenged myself to use it up.I used it, but still mange to have most of it left…lol
The background and title were cut from my cameo and designed by my friend Stacia.  I them took my cheap watercolor set from Michael’s and colored the hearts a pale pink.  The papers from the background and heart fillings are Pink Paislee Bella Rouge. Oh, and the washi tape…hate it on the photo above, but like it in real life…strange!
Thanks for hoping with us today…and all year long!  Can’t wait to see what January brings for our hop community.

Play Time

October 13, 2016

I know I’ve been absent for a LONG time, but I promise I’m trying to work on new inspiration.  I have been keeping my Youtube and Instagram accounts fairly current though.  If you’re interested in following me there the links are on the right hand side of the blog.  I’ve also started a new health experience with Plexus which I also linked in the right tool bar.
Without further ado…Here is a layout I completed with one of my scraptastic kits.  It’s of our daughter when she was a month old starting to look and play with her little gym.
The products are mostly Amy Tangerine with some stash items thrown in here and there.  My favorite part of the layout though is the heart and title.  The hearts were created with Faber Castel glass beads. I did a review of the product over on my youtube page…be sure to check it out.  The title I made with my Silhouette Cameo sketch pens.  Can I even tell you how much I loved the effect!
Okay – I better get back to trying to create…quite time is limited around here 🙂
