Travel Themed Scrapbook Layout

April 6, 2022

Hey crafty friends! Welcome back to another layout here at The Paper Addict.  This time I created a travel themed scrapbook layout with three photos…even though you only initially see one.

This layout was started with a sketch from Laura Whitaker’s book that she put out when she “retired.”  I printed it out, and had it bound, so that I could also pull it out without needing an electronic device.

Travel Themed Scrapbook Layout

I’m going to keep this post VERY short because you can hear all the details, and watch me create this, over on youtube.  I don’t want to bore you with double details.  Please let me know though if you’d rather them typed out over watching the video…I’m open to doing both!

Okay – I know – short and sweet, but it’s time to make supper.  Hopefully I get more time to create soon.  I so miss it when I’m away to long.  Until next time….stay crafty!

Messy Girl Scrapbook Layout

February 20, 2018

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back today with a messy girl scrapbook layout.  The story behind is layout was just to cute not to document it.

Upclose detail of scrapbook layout

Each year we go to a county that is about 3.5 hours away and unplug and unwind.  Where we stay has no cell phone service, no internet and very limited television.  We ride ATV’s, fish, have campfire’s, etc.

Our children have always come with us.  Julia was five months the first time she came and Michael was nine months on his first trip.  Last year though Julia was old enough to really start enjoying the activities.

On the day of the photo we had been riding ATV’s and has encountered many mud holes.  Both children were covered from head to two in mud, and neither of them minded a bit.  She was laughing and asking for more, more.

I’m thankful that, for now, she is enjoying the experience.  I can imagine that as she gets older, and more into “girly” things, she may not want to end up all muddy so I wanted to make sure to document this trip.

I started the layout with a sketch from Stuck ? Sketches.  For their February 15th challenge they had to sketches and I used the second one with the circle element, and banner under the photo.  I ended up not using the banner, but my doily is the circle element in the sketch.  I also used the single photo and created strips on the top like the sketch, but also added the same detail to the bottom.

Killing my Felicity Jane Willow kit with this layout was also a bonus of the project.  I ended up creating seven projects from the kit before I called it done.  I still have the solid colored cardstock left so I added that to the remaining kits that I have from them.  Other layouts I created with the kit are So Big, Young at Heart, 1st Fluff, and one of my all time favorites Dare Heis.

I love how these soft colors gave the photo a feminine feel, but the blues balanced it out and didn’t make it to girly…perfect for the photo.  Thank you for joining me today and I hope you enjoyed the layout and can see how to adapt it for your style.

Adeline Grace | Stuck ? Sketches | Echo Park

November 24, 2017

Hey friends!  Happy black Friday.  Are you out shopping early this am?  Hubby has to work so even if I wanted to it just wouldn’t work for our family.  Instead I’m here to share a layout with you.
I created this layout of my newborn niece using the November 15th sketch over at Stuck ? Sketches. If you’ve followed me for any amount of time you know I love their challenges.

I’ll admit when my sister-in-law gave me Adeline’s photo I panicked a bit…purple…I don’t own anything purple, but I think I made it work with the pink I have well.
The base cardstock is purple and then I used a brown piece of patterned paper that when matched with the rusts/purple of Adeline’s wrap.  The pink piece that is under the journalling card is a frame that I cut into two pieces.  This way it adds dimension and interest.  The rest of the pieces are various papers and stickers from the Echo Park Bundle Of Joy Collection.

Since the paper collection didn’t have any purple in it I had to tie it all together somehow.  I choose to cover the two pink flowers on the journalling card with purple sparkle ones from Hobby Lobby.  They also had a tiny wooden bead in the center so they add a textural/dimensional element as well.
For being panicked about purple I’m really happy with how this came out, and I hope my sister-in-law loves it too. If you are looking for other newborn ideas please check out my Hello Baby layout! Until next time…stay crafty!

Happy First Birthday | Echo Park | Stuck ? Sketches

October 17, 2017

Hey Scrappy Friends!  Finally here this month with a completed layout.  I’ve been MIA trying to get our sons birthday party planned (projects coming up from that) and getting design team project done in advance.
For today’s layout I used the October 1st sketch from Stuck ? Sketches.  If you’ve followed me for any length of time – you know I love Laura’s work.  I loved this sketch and used it for pictures from our sons 1st birthday party…yes he’s turning 7 next month…don’t judge…lol
The paper is all from Echo Park’s Boy Birthday Wishes collection. The orange party balloon paper is my favorite in the collection along with the spots.  Both were neutral enough to use almost anywhere on the page, but also had enough pattern to make it interesting.
The sketch called for a tag and cluster in the lower left of the page. Let me tell you how much I struggle with that.  I actually recorded this for a process video on my youtube channel and that portion alone took me over 30 minutes.  I finally realized that I was trying to interpret the sketch to literally.  When I gave myself more freedom the corner cluster came together quickly.
To finish the page off I added some of my homemade enamel dots, and outlined the main part of my layout with my favorite sharpie pen.  Hope you have enjoyed learning some about my creation.  I’d love to see what you are working on.  Until next time…stay crafty!
