2023 Crafty Goals

January 2, 2023

Hey crafty friends!  I know – you thought I fell off the face of the earth right!?  Nope, I’m still here, but did horribly on my craft goals for 2022.  Hubby and I accepted a new position in our township sports program, and it ate up sooo much of our time.  We love helping the kids, but are really trying to find a better balance this go round.  I hope my 2023 crafty goals are realistic and attainable.

2023 crafty goals

I don’t post about it often but in addition to my cups, scrapbook and cross stitch I also diamond paint.  If you haven’t heard of diamond painting before here is a good beginner tutorial. It’s a similar concept to cross stitch, but uses drills and you place them on a sticky canvas.  I currently have five unfinished paintings.  There is a Disney castle, winter barn scene, two supernatural ones, and a Neuschwanstein castle.  My goal is to finish all five this year.  That would free up an entire drawer in my Alex set and an entire shelf in my raskog cart.   Going forward I would then like to do one painting at a time to reduce supply storage.

Scrapbooking – oh where to begin.  I did abysmal last year at getting anything done.  I honestly think I got less than a dozen layouts completed.  I also failed at not buying any new collections.  I didn’t do horribly (I think I bought four), but still.  I have more than I’ll ever need.  This year I want to use up at least two collections and make at minimum 12 layouts.  I know that isn’t much, but it’s at least one per month.

Cross Stitch – my first craft passion.  I don’t really have a goal for this this year.  I’ve found every goal process I’ve tried to make with stitching just kills my mojo.  I’m going to just go with…as the mood strikes.

I also have a book goal for the year, but that could be a post all it’s own…haha

Please feel free to check in on me – keep my accountable to these goals – kick my butt – etc.  Have you made any 2023 crafty goals, and if so, how do you keep yourself motivated to get them done?

2022 Crafty Goals

January 3, 2022

Hey crafty friends!  As promised I am back this week to fill you in on my 2022 crafty goals, and to ask you to help keep me accountable.  Feel free to call me out any time!

Scrapbooking 2022 Goals

I didn’t do so well last year getting my layouts scrapped and using the products I have.  This year I want to be on a spending freeze of sorts.  I want to buy no new patterned paper collections. The only exception would be if a company releases a swimming based collection since we don’t see them very often.  Otherwise base cardstock and adhesive are okay purchases.

I also would like to finish a layout a week.  It’s really ambitious considering I haven’t scrapped in how many months…I can’t even count.  I need to get back to being creative.

I also have a goal to pair down my scrap space.  I currently use two Lallax units (one made into my desk), two Raskog carts, two of the large Alex drawers and pictures shelves/towel bars on the walls.  By the end of the year I want to be down to the two Kallax units and the two Alex drawers.  Do you think that’s doable?

Cross Stitch Goals

If you read my previous blog post I have picked up my cross stitch again after a many year hiatus.  For the coming year my goals are rather simple.  I want to have visible progress each month that can by shown via a photo blog post.  I imagine these blog posts will be photo heavy, but whatever keeps one motivated!

Like my scrapbooking I also want to buy no new charts this year.  I have enough charts to last a lifetime!  I also have MANY projects already started and/or kitted.  I have decided if I feel like stitching something different I need to look to those first before kitting something new.  If I kit something new I have to try to find a piece of fabric from my stash to work it on before buying a new piece.  Sounds simple, but we shall see.

If you’ve gotten this far thank you for sticking with and reading through my 2022 crafty goals!  Please feel free to leave me your goals for the year so we can help keep each other on track.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Am I There Yet Boy Scrapbook Layout

February 13, 2021

Hey crafty friends!  I’m back with a new layout using the February sketch over at Sketch~N~Scrap.  Their sketches have been right up my alley the last two months, and I’m happy to be getting some pages accomplished.  This month I chose to use the sketch and create my Am I There Yet Boy scrapbook layout.  Let’s take a look first at the sketch

I loved how clean this one was. I know that sketches are just a starting point, but sometimes I feel overwhelmed when there is to much going on in a sketch.  I also knew right away which photos I wanted to use.  Our son turned ten this year and I took some photos of him compared to his father.  While I should have thought to do this every year since he was born….I thought it would be interesting to start now and see if/when he surpasses good old Dad.

I used a rather old collection from Simple Stories.  They released this mini kit called Hey Pop in 2014.  I have used it before, but since my goal this year is to use more than I buy it was a perfect place to start.  When I was done I had no full 12×12 sheets of paper left, and only two colors of paper so I called this kit killed.

I also managed to create a video showing my process while making this. I have some creation questions so I’d love if you popped over and let me know your thoughts on those.  I”m starting a new paper pad/collection challenge so I hope to be getting lots finished shortly.  I love getting my photos documented, and my paper collections used.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Adorable Daughter Scrapbook Layout

September 30, 2020

Hey crafty friends! Thanks for checking out my sharing of this adorable daughter scrapbook layout that I made for the sketch challenge over at Sketch N Scrap.  I know I’m getting in here right at the end, but that’s how it works now between schooling and cups.  I’m just glad to have the memory documented.

As it seems to be my thing lately I started by rotating the sketch.  I did this so I could use one vertical photo instead of the two suggested.  Other than that, and well the title, I stuck fairly closely to the rest of the sketch.  This sketch in particular came in really easily for me.  I’m not sure what made this layout different, but with the little scrapbook time I’ve had recently I’m certainly not going to complain.

I used the Simple Stories Little Princess collection for this adorable photo of our daughter.  I had hesitated on purchasing this because many of the embellishments are princess people.  I’m really not one to use people embellishments to start, and then on top of that our girlie really isn’t into princesses.  She loves dolls and Barbie so I’m really glad to not have princess paraphernalia around the house for the time being.  When I found it on clearance though I “had” to snatch it up.

For this layout I used the more neutral or floral pieces, and I think they worked very well.  I used one of the tags as a substitute title because there really wasn’t a big story to go with this photo to make a title out of.  The photo is just a cute one I snapped of our daughter at a restaurant in her favorite dress.  Due to COVID we didn’t get to have her formal four year old photos done so I’ve been trying to get more photos of her documented this year.

Okay – enough ramblings from this girl.  I’m signing off to eat some supper.  Until next time…stay crafty!
