Adorable Daughter Scrapbook Layout

September 30, 2020

Hey crafty friends! Thanks for checking out my sharing of this adorable daughter scrapbook layout that I made for the sketch challenge over at Sketch N Scrap.  I know I’m getting in here right at the end, but that’s how it works now between schooling and cups.  I’m just glad to have the memory documented.

As it seems to be my thing lately I started by rotating the sketch.  I did this so I could use one vertical photo instead of the two suggested.  Other than that, and well the title, I stuck fairly closely to the rest of the sketch.  This sketch in particular came in really easily for me.  I’m not sure what made this layout different, but with the little scrapbook time I’ve had recently I’m certainly not going to complain.

I used the Simple Stories Little Princess collection for this adorable photo of our daughter.  I had hesitated on purchasing this because many of the embellishments are princess people.  I’m really not one to use people embellishments to start, and then on top of that our girlie really isn’t into princesses.  She loves dolls and Barbie so I’m really glad to not have princess paraphernalia around the house for the time being.  When I found it on clearance though I “had” to snatch it up.

For this layout I used the more neutral or floral pieces, and I think they worked very well.  I used one of the tags as a substitute title because there really wasn’t a big story to go with this photo to make a title out of.  The photo is just a cute one I snapped of our daughter at a restaurant in her favorite dress.  Due to COVID we didn’t get to have her formal four year old photos done so I’ve been trying to get more photos of her documented this year.

Okay – enough ramblings from this girl.  I’m signing off to eat some supper.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Cute Cousins Scrapbook Layout

May 17, 2020

Hey crafty friends!  Welcome back to another anything goes challenge with Southern Girls.  For this challenge I decided to again work on some of my May goals and use my Simple Stories Vintage Bliss 6×6 paper pad to made this cute cousins scrapbook layout.

Cute Cousins Scrapbook Layout

It was perfect timing when I was making this because my friend Khristina posted a video where she was using a 6×6 paper pad and 2×2 squares.  It was instant inspiration.  I inked the 2×2 squares with picked raspberry distress ink from Tim Holtz.  It’s a new to me color, and quickly becoming a favorite.

The hard part was how to embellish the page though because I had not one embellishment from the actual collection. I went digging around in my colored embellishment boxes, which I’ve noticed really have very little in them, and found just a few things that matched well and went with that.  I figured a little something is enough since there was so many different patterned papers.

The photo, the most important part, is from my wedding.  We’ll be married 15 years next month! The cuties in the photos are my sister (11), my cousin Danny (11) and my cousin Beth (9).  It’s hard to believe they are all grown up now.  My sister is married for almost five years, Danny is working on a second degree and Beth is married with a baby of her own.  To think that our son is the same age Beth was…ugh….makes me feel old!

I tried to get a piece of flair on here too since that I also one of my monthly goals, but none of them fit quiet right  Well,  I think that’s it for now.  I’m gonna sign off and try to get working on those goals.  Until next time…stay crafty!

1st Grade School Photo Masculine Scrapbook Layout

September 18, 2019

Hey scrappy friends!  Long time no layout.  Summer was incredibly crazy with swim team and two kiddos home full time, but with fall comes a new routine.  I’m afraid to say it, but I really hope to be at least semi regular with posting now that school is in session.

My first post back is for none other than the Southern Girls Design Team.  I have been on Team Lou for several years 2014 – 2015 and then from 2017 – to the present.  This go round we were challenged to use a tic tac toe board.  These usually end of up really hard for me to use because there’s always something on the board I LOATHE using.  This time I was able to use the right hand column very easily.

As my blog title indicated, this is our little man when he was in first grade.  I spent several days getting layouts done of all his school photos so that I could dispose of all the extras.  I do the main photo on the front traditional style and then just attach the class photo to the back since it’s always huge.

For this layout I used the very old My Minds Eye Remarkable collection. How old you may ask…well he was only two when the collection debuted.  If you can believe it you can still find a few pieces on amazon though.

Thank you for checking my layout out and for sticking with me through my creative dry spell.  I hope to be back again soon with more regular content.  I do know there will be a few videos in the upcoming weeks so be sure to stay tuned.  Until next time…stay crafty!

Santa Clause Scrapbook Layout

November 25, 2018

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – time for the annual 25 Days Of Christmas Movies Blog Hop! #ChristmasMoviesHop

We have 25 talented bloggers gathered together to share with you all the wonderful crafts and recipes you can make this Christmas season, based off of some of the most beloved holiday classic films. There are 25 films to be inspired by for your holiday season, and 25 talented bloggers to aid your inspiration! If you love Christmas movies, you have come to the right place!!

Hey Crafty Friends!  I’m very happy to be joining everyone again for another 25 Days of Christmas Movies blog.  Last year I did a mini album based on the Santa Clause 3 movie.  This year I created a Santa Clause Scrapbook Layout based on the first movie.

Need a quick and easy santa layout with room for lots of photos. Come see my Santa Clause Scrapbook Layout featuring four photos.

My original intention with this layout was to use photos of our kids breakfast with Santa outing that our school does as a fundraiser every year.  Unfortunately, this year it fell after the hop so I didn’t have any photos.  What I did instead was created the layout and made white holding places for the photos.  This is a great idea if you want to make something in advance or if you’re making an album for a gift. These photos are 4×6 and there 3×3.  I love how there are lots of photos, but still white space on the layout.  It doesn’t feel over crowded.

Santa Clause Scrapbook Layout

I think my favorite parts about this layout are the little details.  The journalling strips inked in red to match the red paper strip and the red photo mat.  The chipboard title embossed in gold.  For me it’s those little details that make a layout look cohesive.

Thank you for joining me this year for my Santa Clause Scrapbook Layout.  If you’d like to see the mini album I created last year inspired by the 3rd Santa Clause movie it can be found here. Don’t forget to meet the rest of the hosts for the hop to be inspired by food, drink and all kinds of holiday bits and bobs.

Craft Room Challenge – Reveal

February 2, 2018

Hello Crafty Friends!  I’m so glad you are joining us for the big reveal from the craft room challenge.  This is where we see all our hard work paying off. If you want to see where I started head over to week one’s post or here’s just a single picture to remind you.

The biggest difference in my space is my desk, and my new drawers from Ikea.  Replacing the old cabinets from Michael’s has made such a difference in my organization.  The old cubes just didn’t have enough space to place and see anything effectively.  As you saw in my organization post I can now readily see what I have.  It makes such a difference.

Another change I made is that I removed the VERY large white cabinet from the wall.  You can see the bottom of it in the picture above.  It was just so bulky for the wall and since it was almost empty it was wasted space.  I replaced it with a wrought iron rack from Hobby Lobby that now holds my kits.  If you’d like to see how I’m storing my kits in the rack please let me know.  I’d LOVE to share.

Now on to the big reveal picture….

A clean craft space after the hard work of the craft room challenge

It looks so much bigger without stuff all on the floor and with less on the walls.  I’m also not sure that the cabinets on the left, where my printer is, are staying. The printer would fit on the Ikea drawers so that corner may be empty at some point, but I didn’t want to get rid of them just yet. I may use them to store the items in my shop and replace the bins I currently have, but we’ll see how that works when the products all come in.

Thank you so much for joining us each week this month, and we hope that you have gotten lots of ideas and inspiration to get your craft room in order.  If there’s anything more you’d like to see close up please let me know.  Until next time….

Before you see the rest of the crafty spaces, please meet our lovely hosts:
